Article in South Jersey Local News, courtesy of Christine Harkinson from The Moorestown Sun, about "FEP with Friends: Fur, Feathers, and Scales", a free event open to the public this past November 20th hosted by FEP and presented by Woodford Cedar Run Wildlife Refuge.

Participants learned about the refuge and its role in rehabilitating local wildlife, and were able to see animals up close while learning about unique characteristics and the dangers they face.

By all accounts, it was an exciting and educational experience for everyone who attended.

On December 18th from 7 to 8:30 PM at the Friends Meetinghouse, FEP will be presenting “Imagine That!”, a group theatrical improv event free to the public!

Photos from FEP's annual Monarch Butterfly Workshop last month at the Moorestown Friends Meetinghouse, in which more than 70 people gathered for a presentation by environmentalist Glenn Curtis, with live monarch butterfly eggs, caterpillars, chrysalises, and adult butterflies.

Glenn discussed the life cycle of monarch butterflies, their migration, their importance as pollinators, and what we can do to make a difference.

Glenn called on children in the audience, some of them dressed for the occasion in monarch butterfly costumes, to re-enact the life cycle of monarch butterflies using caterpillar and butterfly props as he spoke.

Afterwards, Glenn took questions from the audience, then allowed attendees to visit the tables behind him where they could examine monarch eggs, chrysalises, and caterpillars up close with a magnifying glass and learn more about them.

For the Grand Finale, Glenn led the participants outside to the Moorestown Friends School playground, where they released the monarch butterflies to begin their 2,000 mile journey South to Mexico.
By all accounts, the event was a huge success and an exciting and educational occasion for all.

Join us this coming Thursday, April 10th, at 7PM at the Moorestown Friends Meetinghouse for this free presentation open to the public by award-winning children’s book author, photographer, and naturalist Doug Wechsler on Great Expeditions.

Doug has traveled to remote corners of the world to study and photograph the earth's biodiversity. He participated in ceremonial sword dances, swam with piranhas, and accidentally picked up a cobra.

Working with teams of scientists around the world, Doug photographed beautiful birds, endangered frogs, and forests.

Doug will reveal what inspired these expeditions, what they discovered, and where these discoveries led.

Doug has written over 25 children's books, many of which will be on display and for sale.
