🌞 June is here, and so is a month full of opportunities to explore, learn, and connect at Westmoreland State Park!

We're especially excited for two big highlights this month:

🎶 The return of our Music on the Cliff summer concert series, kicking off June 20 with Sally & Brian.

🎉 Our Foundation Celebration on June 27 as we celebrate America's 250th Anniversary and 90 years of Westmoreland State Park with vendors, demonstrations, food, activities, and community fun.

A huge thanks to our volunteers who came out this past Saturday to help our park remove ~430 lbs of trash for Clean the Bay Day! 💙

Every piece of trash picked up makes a difference for wildlife 🐦, water quality 💧, and the beauty of our shoreline 🌊. Your efforts truly matter—thank you for giving back!

Saturday wasn’t only about cleaning up our shoreline, it was about giving back to our entire ecosystem 🌱

Jack and Theresa Reyburn—two of our amazing volunteers—arrived that morning with a car full of native plants 🌼 to add into our pollinator garden 🐝 outside our Visitor Center.

Thanks to all the time and hard work put in by our volunteers and staff, our park is cleaner, prettier, healthier, and stronger...all thanks to people giving back in the community 💚

🌊💙 Why Clean the Bay Day Matters (and why we need YOU this weekend!) 💙🌊

Every bottle, every wrapper, every tiny piece of trash we pick up… it all adds up.

Clean the Bay Day isn’t just about tidying up for a few hours...it’s about protecting the waterways that flow right through our communities and eventually into the beautiful Chesapeake Bay. What we do here truly matters.

Trash left on the ground doesn’t stay put. Rain carries it into storm drains, creeks, rivers… and before long, it’s impacting wildlife, water quality, and the places we all love to explore.

✨ This is our chance to:
• Make an immediate, visible difference
• Protect wildlife and natural spaces
• Be part of something bigger than ourselves
• Show up for our community in a meaningful (and honestly, pretty fun) way

And here’s the best part…
You don’t need experience. You don’t need special skills. You just need to show up.

Families, kids, first-timers, longtime volunteers… ALL are welcome.

🌿✨ MAY EVENT SCHEDULE FOR WESTMORELAND STATE PARK IS HERE ✨🌿

Longer days, warmer weather, and a full lineup of ways to get outside and enjoy it all 💚

With weekend programs from community gathers, to hikes, hands-on activities, and time out on the water… May is looking real good 👀

🔥 Campfire Kickoff is on! We’re leaning into some burn ban–friendly creativity and can’t wait for you to see what we’ve come up with 👀

🚣‍♀️ Paddle on the Potomac is BACK, which means kayak season has officially arrived 🙌 Don't forget to buy a raffle ticket in the Visitor Center for your chance to win a Kayak!

Whether you’re planning a full day in the park or just popping by for something fun, there’s always something happening...and always a place for you here 💫

🔥✨ Campfire Kickoff Update… with a twist! ✨🔥

Well… Mother Nature still say's no flames tonight 🚫🔥 (thanks, burn ban 😅)… BUT that doesn’t mean the fun is cancelled!

👋 Ranger Kyle will still be out at the firepit tonight at 7pm, and while there won’t be a fire, he’s turning it into a fun pop-up hangout.

Think:
🌿 A relaxed, come-and-go vibe
🧠 Something fun and interactive on the table (Ranger Kyle’s cooking up an idea as we speak 👀)
👨‍👩‍👧‍👦 A chance to meet your neighbors, chat with a ranger, and let the kids just be kids

Sometimes the best memories come from the nights that didn’t go as planned… so whether you're camping or live down the road, swing by, say hi, and help us turn a “no campfire” night into something unexpectedly fun 😊

🔥 Campfire Kickoff Cancelled Tonight 🔥

Due to a newly issued fire ban, tonight’s Campfire Kickoff at the park has been cancelled. At this time, no fires are permitted until the ban is lifted.

We know this is disappointing, especially for those looking forward to a cozy evening together, and we appreciate your understanding as Park Rangers follow the ban and prioritize safety.

We’ll keep you updated as soon as we learn more or have a new date to share.

🎶 Music on the Cliff is BACK this summer… and there’s a kayak with your name on it! 🌊

Join us at Westmoreland State Park for an unforgettable summer concert series. Easy evenings, good music, cliffside views, and a whole lot of good-vibe energy you love 🌅🎶

You're Part of Something Big. 🌊

If you live anywhere near Westmoreland State Park, you're one of 18 million people who call the Chesapeake Bay Watershed home and you're in good company! 🏡

Sharing this incredible ecosystem with us are countless fish that nourish our beloved resident bald eagles 🦅 and migratory osprey, oysters working hard to filter and clean our waters 🦪, and aquatic plants providing vital habitat for it all 🌿

The reality is that living in the watershed means we all live downstream of someone else — and that means caring for the Bay isn't just something we do, it's a responsibility we are proud to hold. 💙
