We are moving our ‘home base’ !! The only hitch is we need a new place to land. Can you help? We have occupied a small room in a local law firm for the last couple of years. Our host has been very gracious and we are thankful! But our space is undergoing renovations and we need to find a new ‘home’. The only requirements we have is for the space/closet to be temperature controlled and able to secure. We access the space usually once a week for about an hour. Sometimes more frequently if we need to restock. If you have a space or a lead on a space, please reach out! We are forever grateful ♥️

Our backpack pantry was restocked this week! As we ‘shopped’ at Health Harvest Food Bank this week, we were reminded how generous our community is. There are so many ‘parts’ that have to happen to make this program a reality. We are so grateful for those who make the parts all come together. We are thankful to be able to show our children love through this program. Thank you!

We are beyond blessed by these children and their hearts for giving back!! Washington District Elementary collected over 2,200 pounds of food!!

The Backpack program looks a little different for our younger students. Small bags are packed with goodies like ravioli, soups, canned veggies, canned fruit, shelf stable milk, juice, cereal and a snack for the students. These bags are then discreetly handed out by the school to children who need a little extra support. If you have a student at Washington District Elementary or know of a student at WDES that could use extra support, contact school guidance counselor Mr. Freno or the student’s teacher. The Backpack program is here to help!

School is open for in person learning and the school pantries at MMS and W&L are up and running. If you have a child or know of child that attends either of these schools, have them talk to Ms.Cornwell (MMS), Ms. Payne (W&L) or one of their teachers! These pantries were created to help support our children. When a child’s most basic fundamental needs are met, they can not only grow but thrive!

Spent some time at Healthy Harvest Food bank this week packing boxes for our middle school students. These boxes will help supplement the needs of our students over the holidays! Thank you to those who give and make this small act of love possible 💙💛

Every Fall, every October, is the kick off of Westmoreland's Backpack Buddies program. This year school looks a little different, but the BPB is still working to support our students and their families. If you have a child or know of a student attending Westmoreland County Schools that could use a little extra support , contact your child's guidance counselor!
