The Human Needs Food Pantry provides food, clothing and other services in Montclair and most of Essex County. Donations are tax-deductible.

Client services: Tuesday and Thursday 12:30-3pm

Our diverse client base includes families and individuals who are elderly, disabled, home-bound, unemployed, or underemployed. Client registration and food distribution: Tuesday & Thursday 1230-3pm

🦃 🚲 Our 14th Annual Turkey Ride is in four weeks and there’s plenty of time to sign up, sponsor and donate.
-Sign up to ride through town with that lump of joy nestled in your backpack
-Buy turkeys and let us transport them for you

Food Donations
-Shop our wishlist online and ship directly to The Pantry
-Shop at your local grocery store and drop off during donations hours (Tues/Thurs 8a-noon and Wed 6-730p)

Local food drive
-Keep an eye out for local businesses doing food collections. We have so many wonderful partners!

-We will meet you at your car to collect donations and give you a small token of our gratitude.

Thank you to the Woman's Club of Upper Montclair for honoring The Pantry along with our friends at Montclair Emergency Services for Hope with a generous donation and delicious luncheon. We are proud to be supported by this 120-year-old organization which supports public and social welfare along with educational and charitable causes.

We also had the pleasure of meeting one of its members, JoAnn Aponte of Bloomfield, who has a remarkable career in public service and works with seniors in Bloomfield who knitted these winter halls for our clients.

May we all feel the support of a local partnership and caring community. Each of these equips us to better serve the Human Needs of our clients.

Thanksgiving is ONE MONTH away and we are prepping and organizing all the fixings for a complete meal to give each of our clients.

Items on our wishlist can be sent directly to us (buy from any seller) or purchase locally at your favorite store and drop off on Tuesdays and Thursday 8a-12p and Wednesday evenings 6-730p.

🦃 Less than a month until our 14th Annual Turkey Ride and the most fun you’ll have riding your bike with a frozen turkey in your backpack. In case you can’t imagine the joy and laughter, scroll ➡️ for some 2025 memories. Kid riders are welcome with adults; helmets are required. 🦃

If you want a less wobbly ride, let us transport your turkey donations via our volunteer drivers just in time for Thanksgiving. We’ll be looping around from Montclair Bikery to Kings Food Markets and back to The Pantry where our clients will be collecting their Thanksgiving meals.

We’re bringing back evening donations ahead of the holidays after a successful launch last year. For those who want the convenience of another time to drop off Thanksgiving and non-perishable/shelf stable food along with fall clothing, diapers and other essentials, we are opening for DONATIONS ONLY from 6-730pm on the Wednesday evenings listed here.

You can stop and drop off at our building at during this time slot and we will come to your car for your convenience. (PLEASE don’t leave donations outside when we are closed.)

Pictured here are the Montclair Health Department Nurses and their Outreach Coordinator. Today, this wonderfully caring group came to the food pantry to conduct a Flu Vaccine Clinic. They administered flu shots to anyone who needed them at no cost and no insurance was required.

This is such an important thing to provide to people in need, especially with the high costs of healthcare in general. We truly appreciate them taking the time to set up in our lot and provide this service to our struggling neighbors.

THANK YOU to all these dedicated ladies and to the town of Montclair for sharing them with us!!

VERONA HAS DONE IT AGAIN!! The 13th Annual Verona Fights Hunger event was another huge success! This year they collected and donated 2,009 bags of groceries and raised approximately $7,500 in monetary donations!

So many people to thank including Prout Funeral Home, Compass, Lynch Law Firm, McEvoy Home Inspection, Verona Unico, Hearth realty, Aloha Law Firm, Essex Orthodontics, Nomads, Whole Foods, ShopRite, Kings, Lakeside Deli, Jimmy's Restaurant, Girl Scout Troop 20226 and many others!

Thanks also to a group of Montclair Cooperative School parents and kids who came to the pantry and sorted every bit of it for us!

This is an amazing event that brings the entire community together for a single cause: to help fight food insecurity.

THANK YOU to the The Junior Women's Club of Verona event Co-Charis Nina James and Sally Elshorafa, all their members and all the residents of Verona for making this another huge success! As they say, it takes a village!

Our friends at Shomrei Emunah, Montclair NJ support The Pantry all year long and these carloads of food delivered this week are just one example. WOW! These donations are part of their High Holiday annual drive to honor their commitment to us and our clients experiencing food insecurity.
