The Montclair Scholarship Fund is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides college and trade school scholarships to graduating Montclair High School seniors with financial need. Originally established in 1957 by the Montclair Board of Education, as a non-profit foundation to receive and administer private gifts to the public school system, Montclair Scholarship Fund also administers several longstandin
g scholarships that are awarded by Montclair High School faculty and others. Nine are Montclair residents and three are ex officio, members of the Montclair Public School System including the President of the Board of Education, the Principal of Montclair High School and the Superintendent of the Montclair Public Schools. Funding for scholarships awarded by Montclair Scholarship Fund comes primarily from donations by individuals and local foundations. Montclair Scholarship Fund also receives funds, which are memorial gifts and tributes, as well as donations offered to encourage study in a particular field from individuals and organizations. Many of Montclair Scholarship Fund scholarship recipients come from low-income families and are the first in their family to attend college. Each year, MSF awards approximately 40 scholarships to Montclair High School graduating seniors. However, that number represents less than half the applications typically submitted from talented Montclair High School students with financial need. Unfortunately, despite ever escalating college costs and the need being great, the Montclair Scholarship Fund lacks the resources to provide scholarship money to every deserving applicant. Your tax-deductible donation can help us reach our goal of assisting every Montclair High School graduating senior with financial need who applies for a MSF scholarship.
