Our Mission

Skate Essex seeks to promote the fitness, creativity, and joy of skateboarding for all ages and ability levels. We want to cultivate safe, inclusive spaces for skaters and families to gather in the communities of Essex County, NJ to learn and enjoy the sport of skateboarding.

Established in 2018, Skate Essex members include a diverse collective of families, children, educators, civic leaders, nonprofit professionals, business executives, community advocates, local businesses and skateboard industry professionals.

We have seen how modern skateparks throughout America, like many traditional team sports, create camaraderie and community among those who frequent them, encourage physical fitness and creativity, keep youth free from trouble, and offer safe spaces where all feel welcome.
