Join us this Tuesday as we have Walton County Manager, John Ward come present an update on Walton County. 😎

John Ward was appointed as the County Manager by the Walton County Board of Commissioners on March 1, 2022. His knowledge, skills, and experiences are well-matched for this position. His professional experience includes serving as City/Town Manager, County Marshal, Planning Director, Police Officer, Firefighter, Park Manager, and Environmental Educator.

John’s success is attributed to his dedication to professional development. He holds a Master of Public Administration from Columbus State University and a Bachelor of Science in Education with a concentration in Natural Resource Management from the University of Georgia. He also belongs to several professional organizations, such as the International City/County Management Association as a Credentialed Manager. In the past, he has been a member of the North Carolina City & County Management Association, Georgia City-County Management Association, Georgia Academy for Economic Development, Georgia Association of Chiefs of Police, International Code Council, and the Georgia Recreation & Parks Association.

John and his two sons are active members of the Walton County community. Deeply plugged into local life, John serves as a volunteer coach for multiple sports, regularly participates in community events, and enjoys connecting with the residents, businesses, and visitors of Walton County.

Our next meeting will be September 8th at noon at the Walton County YMCA. We will tour the pool and facilities and hear from Rotarian Meredith Green . Join us and we promise to play “THE” song.

Our hearts are heavy this week with the loss of a great man and Rotarian.
Pepper Pettit was larger than life and left a huge impact on many.

Our hearts and prayers go out to Pepper’s wife, Debbie, his family, his best friend Scott Yochum, and the members of the Rotary Club of Dawson County and Rotary District 6910

The Rotary Club of Monroe welcomed a few additions to its 2026–2027 leadership during its meeting Tuesday, Aug. 25.

Katie Butler was inducted as president of the club, with Peter Wosnik inducted as president-elect and Stuart Smith as Sergeant at Arms. Not pictured Bill Bryson (Past President) Randy Dittmer (Treasurer) and Laurie Hawks (Secretary).

The club also welcomed District Governor Paul Matthews and Area Governor Ken Strickland, who joined the members for the occasion of inducting our new officers.

As the Rotary Club of Monroe begins a new year of service, club members also recognized the volunteers and leaders whose time and dedication help support Rotary’s work in the community.

The Rotary Club of Monroe is part of Rotary International, a global service organization that brings together community and business leaders to provide humanitarian service and strengthen communities locally and around the world.
