Beginning December 1866 and operating under a charter granted by the Grand Lodge of North Carolina of Antient Free and Accepted Masons. Founding Officers were W. Fitzgerald, A. Lawson, S. Walkup, B. Benton, B. Trawick and W. A. Austin. Monroe Masonic lodge has a rich history quietly supporting and building our community while providing a fraternal setting where like minded men could meet and impro

ve themselves through the lessons taught in our degree system. Freemasonry as a system is a beautiful system of morality, veiled in allegory and illustrated by symbols. Its work is the continued improvement of its members, and its product is pure charity. Today Monroe 244 is a place for the good man looking to better himself, give to his community and establish real and meaningful friendships.
