The suggested trip to Bryson City for a train ride has the following results
Nantahalla Gorge Excursion has daily trains in June and July. The trip is 4 1/2 hours with a shopping layover. Depending on the class of service, the trip cost is between $71 -$130 each.
Tuckasegee River Excursion has daily trains in June and July. The trip is 4 hours with a shopping layover in Dillsboro. Depending on the class of service, the trip cost is between $71 -$130 each.
Moonshine Experience train is adults only and travels only on Friday and Saturday. Cost is about $130.
Hotels in Bryson City is $140 to $230 per night.
Back roads to Bryson City is about a 6 hour ride.
The suggested trip to Mt Airy, NC during the Leaves Festival; 14-16 October.
The two hotels still available are $150 to $175 per night
Both Booking.com and Trivago have only Hampton Inn and a small B&B avail

This Mount Airy trip could also have a side trip to Pilot Mountain,
Pilot Mountain can also be a separate day trip.
The trip to Mount Mitchell could include a lunch in Little Switzerland plus the enjoyable NC226 route.
The Suggested trip to Maggie Valley for Thunder in the Smokies is 29 April to 1 May. Located 3374 Soco Road, Maggie Valley 28751. A good place to stay is across the street at Holiday Motel. The cost of rooms is about $78. Call quickly and they will fill up.
The Trip to the ARK Encounter, Williamstown, KY 41097
The ride to Williamstown is close to 7 1/2 to 8 hours at 472 miles all highway, US74-I26-I40-I75.
The ARK exhibit is open 09:00-17:00 Monday thru Saturday
The Cost is general admission $55 adult, $25 Children
General Admission plus the Museum=$85 adult, $45 children
Parking is $15 per day
The exhibit needs about 4 hours to see it all.
Microtel in Williamstown is about $140 per night
A suggestion was to travel the first day to Lexington, KY and stay downtown to visit and dinner. This will allow us to travel the last 60 miles and see the exhibit refreshed. The cost of downtown Lexington is $170 to $200 per night.
