Hackett Hemwall Patterson Foundation, Inc. The nonprofit Hackett Hemwall Patterson Foundation (HHPF) is dedicated to advancing global health and transforming lives. Our work doesn't stop with healthcare.

Our service-learning mission trips, education, and training deliver life-changing medical treatments to underserved communities. The Hackett Hemwall Patterson Foundation, Inc. (HHPF) is more than just a medical organization—it’s a commitment to compassionate care and lasting transformation. Since our founding in 1969, we have been dedicated to delivering life-changing medical treatment to those wh

o need it most in some of the world’s most underserved communities. We specialize in treatments that provide relief from chronic pain, empowering patients to regain mobility and reclaim their lives. As the world’s leading teaching organization for prolotherapy, HHPF unites renowned physicians and healthcare educators from around the globe to offer unparalleled training for the next generation of medical professionals. Our veins and vascular programs deliver accessible, cutting-edge procedures that change lives rapidly. Our surgical ear, nose, and throat teams provide complex surgeries that would be otherwise impossible. But our mission extends far beyond pain relief. Through service-learning medical trips, we collaborate closely with local doctors and communities, not only treating patients but also empowering local healthcare providers through training that ensures our impact endures long after we leave. We’re committed to strengthening the overall well-being of the communities we serve, providing material aid to hospitals, nursing homes, and elementary schools, and ensuring that vulnerable populations are supported in every way possible. At HHPF, we believe in the power of healing, education, and sustainability. Every patient we treat, every doctor we train, and every life we touch brings us closer to building a healthier, more compassionate world. Join us on this journey and help transform lives—one community at a time. >> https://www.hhpfoundation.org/donation

This is a side of mission work that often goes unseen.

After the clinical work is done, there’s time spent connecting, listening, sharing, and building trust with the community.

Those moments matter.

They’re part of what makes the work sustainable and meaningful.

🌎 Giving back is part of who we are.

In March, Dr. Spartz and her children traveled to Honduras with the Hackett Hemwall Patterson Foundation, providing vein care and helping treat hundreds of patients who otherwise wouldn’t have access to care. From assisting with procedures to supporting clinic flow, it was a meaningful, hands-on experience.

This trip marked Dr. Spartz’s 10th year participating—and she is already planning to return again in 2027 to continue the mission. What started as a service trip has become a powerful family tradition of giving back.

We’re proud to support vein care here in Minnesota and around the world.

There’s a moment we witness often during these missions.

A patient walks in carrying years of discomfort, exhaustion, and uncertainty.
And little by little, you see hope return.

Not because of one procedure alone but because someone finally had access to care.

These missions are about more than treatment.
They’re about showing people they have not been forgotten.

Every patient, every conversation, every smile reminds us why this work matters.

This is what training looks like during an HHPF mission.

Not watching from the sidelines.
Not sitting in a lecture hall.

Physicians train by treating real patients alongside experienced practitioners making clinical decisions in real time, adapting with each case, and gaining hands-on experience that’s difficult to replicate in a traditional setting.

And what they learn doesn’t stay here.
They take those skills back to their own communities, practices, and patients.

That’s how impact continues long after the mission ends.

During the March mission, volunteers showed up ready to help!

First steps: Sorting and dividing the needed supplies for our different clinics.
AND they also gained a lot from the experience.

A better understanding of what it takes to power a large-scale medical mission.

So much can be done with the right team.
That’s the part that stays with them.

Before the first patient is seen, the work has already started.

Equipment is unpacked and tested. Spaces are turned into functioning clinics. Teams align quickly, knowing the pace won’t slow once the day begins.
Then it moves—fast.

Long hours, constant coordination, and a shared focus on making every moment count.

What looks seamless on the surface is built on preparation and trust across the team.

Follow to see more of the process.
