Our mission is to help improve the lives of individuals with Down syndrome and their families through education, advocacy, research, and fellowship.

The Michiana Down Syndrome Family Support and Advocacy Group is a non-for profit 501(c)(3) organization. We are proud to serve the South Bend, Mishawaka, Elkhart, Bremen, Plymouth, LaPorte, and other surrounding cities in Northern Indiana in addition to South West Michigan, including Benton Harbor, Berrien Springs and Saint Joseph.

🎃 We’re excited to be part of the Gates of Granger Trunk or Treat on Saturday, October 31 from 11:00 a.m.–2:00 p.m.

This free community event will help raise support and awareness for Michiana Down Syndrome, Michiana Family Center, and Ronald McDonald House Charities Michiana.

Michiana Down Syndrome will have a trunk there, so be sure to stop by and see us!

💙💛 What a day!

Thank you to everyone who joined us for the 2026 Michiana Down Syndrome Walk & Festival at Potawatomi Zoo!

From the Walk and performances to the resource fair, silent auction, activities, and simply spending time together, it was wonderful to see so many individuals, families, friends, and supporters come together to celebrate our MDS community.

A day like this takes a lot of people to make possible. Thank you to our families, self-advocates, volunteers, sponsors, donors, performers, resource partners, and everyone who attended, donated, bid, voted, shared our posts, or helped behind the scenes.

Most of all, thank you for continuing to support our mission and the individuals with Down syndrome and families we serve throughout Michiana.

We hope you enjoy a few of our favorite moments from the day. 💙💛

Did you know the preferred term in the USA is Down syndrome, not Down’s syndrome?

Down syndrome is named for the English physician John Langdon Down, who characterized the condition in 1866 but did not have it.
