This week's Above & BEE-yond Award goes to Karsten on our maintenance crew.

Karsten is someone we count on. He shows up with a good attitude, jumps in wherever he is needed, and handles whatever the day throws at him without making a thing of it. That kind of willingness matters, especially on a crew where the work shifts hour to hour.

Beyond the job itself, Karsten is just a genuinely good guy to have around. Easy to work with, easy to be around, and quick to lend a hand. Those things add up fast in a building this size.

About the Above & BEE-yond Award:
Each week, this award recognizes a team member who goes the extra mile in supporting our members, programs, and team. Recipients get to choose a treat from our partner Blissful Bee as a small thank-you for the impact they make.
Thanks for everything you do, Karsten. You go above and BEE-yond.

Memorial Day will be worth remembering.
It was the end of an era. A time of transition for our group fitness groups. It marked the final classes in our Group X room, and it did so in style. A huge dance fitness mash up that brought 30 people to the floor as we closed the doors in the northwest corner of the building.

That room is now under construction and will soon host our expanded therapy services through Prairie Grit Therapy. What was once the home for muscle pumping, zumba bumping, and yoga…. Uh, baby posing? (We’ll workshop that later) will soon be converted to five individual treatment spaces and two large therapy gyms, something that will help expand therapy service to the community.

But fear not our fitness fans, this sacrifice will not go unrewarded. While our group fitness room is down for the count, the future is bigger and better (cross our hearts and all). After this space, we’ll be sending contractors to the center of the building to create not just another group fitness room, but a group fitness room AND two studios that’s will be suited to fit all our classes (plus more, probably).

It’ll be a bit, but we’re excited for the vision to come to reality. Meanwhile, we’re shuffling around some spaces, finalizing some plans, and preparing for some facelifts (yes, in the training center too).

Meanwhile we’re going make a few messes, move a few things around, and figure out more clever ways to talk about yoga… (no promises on that one).

Thanks for the memories. Can’t wait to make more when the dust settles.
