April is World Autism Month💙💜💛💚

This month is about celebrating differences, building understanding, and creating spaces where every child feels like they belong.

At Sharkey’s Cuts for Kids, this mission is deeply personal to our family. As parents of a child with Autism, we know how important it is to find environments that are not just inclusive—but truly supportive, patient, and understanding.

That’s why we are so proud to introduce ✨ Mellow Mondays ✨ — a sensory-friendly haircut experience designed specifically for children with Autism and sensory sensitivities.

During Mellow Mondays, we create a calmer, more flexible environment with:
🦈 Lights turned down low
🦈 Little to no music
🦈 Movement breaks as needed
🦈 Flexible seating (your child chooses what feels best!)
🦈 No hair washing/ blow drying
🦈 Extra time for appointments
🦈 Comfort items like favorite toys, headphones or weighted items welcome
🦈 Visual explanations of tools
🦈 Flexible pacing so we can pause or stop when overwhelmed
🦈 Parents staying close and involved throughout the appointment
🦈 A reduced haircut price of $25 (1st and 3rd Monday every month)

Our goal is simple: to create a space where kids can feel safe, comfortable, and successful—at their own pace.

We are also incredibly grateful to be part of a community that shares this same heart. Through our partnerships with Our Place, Finding Cooper’s Voice, and the 10,000 Ways to Belong initiative, we are continuing to learn, grow, and better serve families in a meaningful way.

This month—and every month—we are committed to showing up for our neurodiverse community.
