Mental Health Connect

Mental Health Connect Although there are many services that can help you or your loved ones cope with mental illness, it can be daunting to know where to begin.

We’re a collaborative of faith communities, working together to help destigmatize mental illness to make sure all people can find the free, customized, and confidential help they need in the Twin Cities Metro and surrounding communities. People are left wondering,

What is this illness all about? What treatment is available, how do I get it? Who can help me (financially, emotionally, physically)?

What support is available? Mental Health Connect is a good first step toward answering these questions and more. If you're living with a mental illness, or think you may be, or have friends or family that are suffering- Mental Health Connect is for you! Mental Health Connect helps you connect to the mental health services you need. We can show you how to open the door to resources, support, and knowledge that can ease the pain, frustration, and confusion of mental illness. Services are free and available to people of all faiths and walks of life.

As Mental Health Connect (MHC) looks to unlock the $25,000 Southside Legacy Fund Match this summer, we invite you to share it with your personal and professional networks. Mental health matters to everyone, and we look forward to making a bigger and broader impact with this match opportunity.

Starting with a simple truth—mental health matters to all of us, MHC is using this match project to make mental health support more accessible, more connected, and more responsive, enabling stronger responses to mental health needs among the MHC collaborative and across the greater Twin Cities Metro. https://www.mhconnect.org/southside-match

Last month we posed the question: "What's one important thing YOU have learned about taking care of your mental health"--and we received over a dozen responses from our community. We're grateful to everyone who generously shared their wisdom! Over the next couple weeks we'll share some of those submissions as well as some MHC staff responses on our Facebook and Instagram.

We hope you enjoy reading others' insights--and we invite you to share your own in the comments! Thank you for the ways you support mental health every day in your own lives as well as in and beyond your faith communities.

It's been just over a week since the Stories of Hope Breakfast, and what an inspiring morning it was! We're so grateful to our keynote speakers, Pastor Ingrid Arneson Rasmussen of Holy Trinity Lutheran in Minneapolis and Pastor Hierald Osorto of San Pablo-Saint Paul's Lutheran in Minneapolis.

We invite you to watch (or rewatch!) their stories, to take in the hope of their experiences, and to share that hope with others in your communities.

A Matching Grant That Grows Your Impact!

At our Stories of Hope Breakfast, we heard powerful stories of supporting mental health in the greater community. AND…we announced a new $25,000 MATCHING GRANT OPPORTUNITY for Stories of Hope gifts! This match applies to any increase over your previous year’s Stories of Hope gift as well as to new gifts.

Over the next year, we'll be implementing two major enhancements designed for accessibility, personalization, and community impact. These plans include a part-time support role for individualized, realtime support for faith communities as well as new online tools for deepening mental health ministries through resources and partnerships! This is how we strengthen mental health support across entire communities—within and beyond individual congregations.

The Southside Legacy Fund has already invested $50,000 to help launch this community health project. And now, as their final major gift before sunsetting their organization, they’ve offered a $25,000 matching grant to help unlock the full vision.

The Southside Legacy Fund Match applies to any increase over your previous year’s Stories of Hope gift as well as to new gifts. Make your gift now for a greater impact supporting mental health! Find the link in the comments.
