From all of us at Groveland Emergency Food Shelf, thank you—truly and wholeheartedly—to everyone who donated to our van campaign.

This campaign came together in two parts. We were incredibly fortunate to have several generous contributions from longtime donors who helped kick-start the campaign. To those early supporters: thank you for believing in us and helping us get the wheels turning!

Then came the second half of the campaign—and perhaps you noticed a little something different happening on our social media. 👀

Hi! That was me! 👋

As our new team member, I had the opportunity to jump in, learn the ropes, and help bring the van campaign to life online.

While we didn't reach our full fundraising goal, we did raise money, make progress, and bring more attention to the important role our van plays in getting food where it needs to go.

And we believe that's worth celebrating.

Fundraising isn't always about one giant leap. Sometimes it's about the small steps, the first gifts, the unexpected donations, and all the people who each give what they can. Small wins matter. Small donations matter. Every bit counts.

So, to everyone who gave—whether you made a major contribution or dropped a few dollars into the campaign:

Thank you for helping Groveland keep food moving.

We couldn't do this work without you. ❤️🚐

☕ Wake Up and Give Back!

Did you know that coffee is one of the most requested, yet least donated, items at local food shelves?

On International Coffee Day, let’s share the comfort of a great morning brew with families facing food insecurity in our community. A simple bag of ground coffee, instant coffee, or tea brings a sense of normalcy and dignity to someone's morning routine.

How you can help:

Donate: Drop off unopened bags of ground coffee (one pound or less please!), instant coffee, or coffee filters.
Share: Tell a friend or local coffee shop about our coffee drive!
Drop-off location: 1900 Nicollet Ave, Minneapolis MN
Hours: M/W/F 8:30-1, T/Th 8:30-4

Let’s fill the shelves and pour some love into our community today! ☕❤️

September is over. The work isn't.

This month, we asked you to help us keep food moving.

Together, you've helped raise $744 toward our new van.

And you've heard why it matters.

Because during Operation Metro Surge, Groveland distributed 1.5 million pounds of food.

Because we supported around 1,200 families every week.

Because we said yes to schools, hospitals, mutual aid groups, community organizations and neighbors.

Because today, Retail Rescue helps us rescue good food from local businesses and get it to people instead of letting it become waste.

The need for that work doesn't end when September does.

Neither does our campaign.

We're still working toward $31,256 to fully fund the van.

Thank you for moving with us. ❤️

🎥 Have you seen our new video?

One of Groveland’s five partner churches put together a wonderful video highlighting the work happening at Groveland Emergency Food Shelf. We’re so grateful for their support — and for all the ways our partner churches show up for our community!

Give it a watch, and then join us in saying…

🐾 GO LYNX! 🏀💙🩶💚
Good luck in the playoffs! We’ll be cheering you on!

We were so excited to welcome Gay 4 Good to Groveland Emergency Food Shelf earlier this summer!

Gay 4 Good is a national organization with chapters across the country that brings LGBTQ+ volunteers together to support nonprofits and strengthen their local communities.

Their visit to Groveland was made possible through a wonderful community connection. Gay 4 Good partnered with The Sandwich Project to make sandwiches for neighbors experiencing food insecurity, and Groveland is one of the local organizations that receives sandwiches through The Sandwich Project.

It was through that partnership that our Executive Director Sharon connected with the Gay 4 Good team — and we were thrilled to welcome them to Groveland!

We’re grateful for the time, energy, and care they brought with them. Partnerships like this remind us that addressing hunger is a community effort, and that when organizations come together, a little generosity can go a long way.

Thank you, Gay 4 Good, for showing up for our community!

RETAIL RESCUE 🚐🥖

What happens when a local grocery store has more food than it can sell?

At Groveland, sometimes the answer is:
Let's move it.

Through Retail Rescue, we pick up surplus food from local businesses and bring it to our community.

That means good food gets eaten instead of wasted.
It means more variety for our guests.
And it means ready-to-eat food can reach neighbors who may not have reliable access to a kitchen.

But none of that happens without transportation.

The van makes Retail Rescue possible.

This September, we're raising $32,000 to help pay for our new van.

Your donation doesn't more than help us: It helps keep food moving.
