WE OUT WALKING! Oak Grove Lutheran Church held a Neighborhood Walk this past Sunday! We had a large group of 20+ split up and walk around their neighborhood, looking for things and people they never noticed before. We encountered many dog owners, and the dogs were very friendly! We even had a furry friend of our own! (See last photo). We finished our walk at Dairy Queen and discussed all we witnessed! Oak Grove Lutheran Church plan on having another walk in July. Please join them, they are a fun group!

Our call to be the neighbor, and to love the neighbor, includes the responsibility to examine how we invest, not only relationally, but financially, in the common good. We cannot fully embrace this neighboring life without examining our relationship with money.

We will be reading Mike Mather’s book, Having Nothing, Possessing Everything: Finding Abundant Community in Unexpected Places. Mike Mather has been a long-time friend of the FNP learning community. In this book he tells stories of the giftedness he witnesses in the lives of poor and marginalized in the neighborhoods of South Bend and Indianapolis, Indiana.
