So Others May Learn

So Others May Learn Our scholarship recipients are motivated, bright and diligent 8th grade students who attend either the Ziga School or Ngamo Primary School in Zimbabwe.

So Others May Learn is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that provides academic scholarships to motivated, needy primary, secondary, and tertiary students in Sub-Saharan Africa. Although the vast majority of the students pass their entrance exams for secondary school, the nearest high school is over 10 km away; with no cars or even bicycles available to them, many students attempt the 20 km round trip walk,

but are the walk is too long, especially on n empty stomach, and most give up after short while. Although a boarding school in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe offers another alternative, the cost of the tuition, room and board is prohibitively expensive for the families. That's where So Others May Learn steps in to help! Our scholarships cover four years of tuition, room and board, and uniforms and books for the selected students. Over 98% of the eighth graders at the Ngamo Primary School are eligible to attend secondary school, however, before the scholarship program was implemented, less than 2% moved on to high school. We've changed that!

Behind every scholar is a support system that believes in them.

A meeting at Arena Mall in Kampala brought together Muzaifa and two of our university scholars, Ronald and Isabella, for conversation, encouragement, and the renewal of scholarship contracts.

Over lunch, Ronald and Isabella confided in Muzaifa about individual challenges they’ve been navigating. Drawing from both personal and professional experience, Muzaifa shared advice and perspective, especially concerning academics and life skills.

The day also included time spent shopping together at a supermarket and clothing stores – simple experiences that capture the heart of mentorship.

Ronald and Isabella both express profound gratitude for the continued support shaping their futures. 🙏

A transformed reality.

Before, Mano Mano was bound to a demanding labor contract. Hard labor for school fees – this was the agreement. Suffice to say, Mano’s academic performance suffered as a result.

Today, because of his scholarship with So Others May Learn, Mano is no longer bound to that contract and is able to fully focus on his education.

He would pen this letter to you – his sponsors.

“All I promise is that I will work hard.” ❤️
