Avenues for Youth

Avenues partners with youth experiencing homelessness to achieve their dreams.

We do that by providing emergency shelter, short-term housing, and wrap-around services to more than 300 young people every year.

Thursday was the MNPOC Pride Rainbow Roots Youth Fair, and Avenues programs represented! 💜 📢

Mrs. La Reina, Channing, Max, and Cori tabled there. Youth earned MNPOC Bucks by visiting tables and engaging with each table. The kid behind the emojis in these photos learned about Avenues, got excited for math, and showed off his counting skills to earn $100.

He won an Xbox in the raffle but gave it back so that his cousin could win the bike she wanted (there was a one-prize-per-hou sehold rule). The kids are ✨️undeniably✨️ alright. 😎 😁

Having Poet Joe Davis as a resident artist who worked with youth at Avenues to write this poem has been a gift - an emotional snapshot in the form of art for us all to read and reflect on for years to come. Thank you, Joe.

Avenues for Youth is honored to partner with (The Busyhead Project) at Noah Kahan's Minneapolis show tonight (doors at 5pm, show at 6:30pm)! We will have a table set up pre-show where you can come say 'Hi!' and learn a bit more about our programs.

We express our gratitude to Noah Kahan and his mental health nonprofit organization for choosing to partner with us, as well as their commitment to community-based mental health support.

The staff and youth at Avenues are stoked that Busyhead chose to partner with us ahead of Noah's show, because (A) it brings awareness to Avenues and organizations like it, and (B) it's Noah Kahan!! And we love his music.

Avenues for Youth celebrated the nearly completed new building and kicked off our Capacity fundraiser. We held a special gathering of friends, family, and folks who played an instrumental role in bringing it to life in North Minneapolis. They, both literally and figuratively, hold the key to opening these doors and expanding Avenues' supportive services for youth. Thank you to everyone who attended! The next Host Home Info Session in partnership with is THURSDAY, AUGUST 6, @ 6:30 PM at the .side.freedom.library in St. Paul.

Bring your friends! ConneQT (Avenues' Host Home program) partners with MN Welcoming Village to host monthly info sessions at East Side Freedom Library (1105 Greenbrier, St. Paul).

In this moment, when trans and nonbinary people are facing escalating political attacks and attempts to erase them from public life, community care matters more than ever.

When systems fail, neighbors step in.

What better way to mark the occasion than broadcast to Minnesota what trauma-informed design means and how Avenues will be able to expand its supportive services from 300 youth each year to 500.

Last week, we had the honor of hosting Rep. Ilhan Omar at the site of our new Avenues for Youth building.

Rep. Omar’s office secured a vital $3 million in federal funding to help bring this project to life, moving us closer to making homelessness amongst youth in Minnesota both brief and non-recurring.

With a new, modern space, our dedicated staff and supporters can continue ensuring that Avenues grows into its mission more fully: partnering with you experiencing homelessness to achieve their dreams.

A huge thank you to Rep. Omar and her team for touring the site and championing this vision alongside us!

We were delighted to share the progress of the new Avenues for Youth site with Rep. Ilhan Omar, and thrilled to have her support throughout this project. This building is getting closer and closer to move-in ready, and youth and staff can't wait to make it Home. 💜
