Aspen is a spunky, giggly little girl who loved life—and her big brother, Elliott. 💙

Just before her first birthday, what looked like an ear infection turned into a tragic and unexpected leukemia diagnosis. Her dad, Troy, got the call no parent should ever have to hear.

"I just fell on the floor," he remembers.

This Hispanic Heritage Month, we’re celebrating survivors like 11-year-old Santiago.

Diagnosed with AML in 2024, the boy from Mercedes, TX got his first transplant that October. When infections meant he needed a second, the same donor stepped up again in March 2025.

"I wanna give her a hug, hug the person that saved my son. And tell her, thank you, thank you and thank you,” said his mom, Anna.

Today Santiago is thriving. He's healthy, chatty, and back to doing what he loves.!Hispanic and Latino patients like Santiago often have a harder time finding a matching donor. That's why more diverse registry members are so urgently needed.
