Relocation Doesn’t Stop the Journey

Dominique Dalio began his musical journey with and in Delmas 32, Port-au-Prince, when he was just a child. Like so many families affected by the insecurity in Port-au-Prince, he was forced to relocate to Cap-Haïtien.

But some journeys are stronger than circumstances.

Today, Dominique continues to share his passion for music by teaching guitar to four young students in Cap-Haïtien. His story is a powerful reminder that music can transcend challenges, create opportunities, and inspire hope wherever life takes us.

We are especially proud to see one of his students, Djwedly Pierre, during a practice session—a beautiful example of how knowledge, talent, and passion are being passed on to the next generation.

This story reminds us that music is more than an art form. It is a source of resilience, healing, and transformation.

The journey continues. 🎶❤️

In honor of Mother’s Day in Haiti, we’re revisiting this powerful song performed by our advanced students.

Behind every child in our program is a mother, grandmother, aunt, or caregiver whose love, sacrifice, and support make this journey possible. We would not be here today without the incredible women in our community.

We are deeply grateful for the resilience, strength, and hope they share each day — and for the trust they place in us to help nurture their children’s creativity, confidence, and dreams.

Happy Mother’s Day to all the amazing mothers in Haiti and around the world. 💙🇭🇹🎶

🎤✨ Creativity in action.

Students from our partner school in Mumbai, Rishi Valmiki Eco School, recently wrote and composed an original rap song before performing it for parents, teachers, and fellow students.

This video captures one of the young artists working through the lyrics and rhythm with our music teacher, Abhay, as the song begins to take shape.

Moments like these remind us that every child carries incredible creativity, talent, and potential. When given the opportunity to explore, create, and express themselves, their confidence grows and their voices shine.

We are proud to continue creating spaces where young people can discover their strengths, build self-belief, and experience the joy of learning through music. 🎶💛

🇭🇹 Pride. Joy. Hope.

This month, MHI proudly launched the 5th edition of our interschool music competition in Haiti as part of our Plezi Mizik program in partnership with

As Haiti celebrated Flag Day on May 18, each school performed a song dedicated to their country.

What you see on these children’s faces is pure joy — moments where music helps the weight of the world disappear, even if just for a little while.

Five years of this.
And it keeps getting more powerful.

Thank you to everyone helping us create spaces where children can heal, grow, and shine through music. 🎵

In the fall of 1988, Bob Weir and Rob Wasserman found something rare: a musical partnership that was, in Weir's own words, full of warmth.
As a duo, they carved out something intimate and exploratory. Wasserman's upright bass, played with an unamplified bow, gave Weir the freedom to stretch out on acoustic guitar weaving through Grateful Dead classics like "Throwing Stones" and "Victim or the Crime" alongside unexpected, eclectic covers.

That duo eventually grew into RatDog, but the songbook they built together is spacious, soulful, and completely their own, and has never stopped resonating.

On June 25th, that songbook comes back to life at Sweetwater Music Hall, performed on their original instruments. It's an evening presented by Grateful Guitars Foundation and Music Heals International - two organizations that share the same belief: that music, at its best, connects us to something that lasts.

🇭🇹🎶 Students from the seven partner schools of our music program in Haiti in partnership with CORE proudly sang the Haitian Youth Anthem during the launch of the 5th edition of our interschool music competition.

Every year, students eagerly take part in this competition, which gives them the opportunity to showcase their talents, express their creativity, and build confidence through music. In a country deeply affected by insecurity and socio-political challenges, these young voices remind us that hope and resilience are still alive.

Through music, we strive to help children keep their smiles, nurture their dreams, and continue believing in a brighter future for Haiti, even when the road ahead seems uncertain. 💙❤️

For many of these students in Haiti, music class is more than rehearsal for Friday’s performance — it’s a safe space. ❤️🇭🇹

In a world often shaped by instability, insecurity, and trauma, these moments give students a place to feel seen, supported, creative, and connected. Through music, they build confidence, community, and hope together. 🎶

Watching them prepare for Friday reminds us why this work matters so deeply.
