Quiet evenings at the barn are the best. Especially when they coincide with a visit with Mother Nature. We often find the blessings of deer, turkeys, songbirds and small mammals visiting with our horses. Those peaceful moments when there’s nowhere to be but right here are special and we appreciating the little moments that make this place special.

Here’s to cozy evenings, happy horses, and the simple magic of barn life.

She’s the sweetest little mini mare, and we are absolutely eating her up. 💕 We’re already completely smitten with this tiny girl and can’t wait to watch her become part of the Storm Breaker family!

Trail Ride Season Update

We apologize for any inconvenience, but we have made the difficult decision to end our trail ride season early this year. Rather than pausing trail rides in November as originally planned, all trail rides currently booked for October will be canceled and refunded immediately.

We currently have a few horses out of service for various reasons and have been relying heavily on our healthy horses to support our lessons program. We feel that continued trail rides could place unnecessary strain on them. Our priority is always the health and well-being of our horses. By ending trail rides now, we can give our herd the rest and recovery time they need and help prevent further issues.

We will use the off-season to reevaluate our trail ride program and determine what it will look like moving forward. Thank you for your understanding, patience, and continued support of Storm Breaker Stables.

Bring on the Pumpkin Spice!!!

At Storm Breaker Stables our horses are our priority. This spring and several times this summer the rain has created exceptionally wet and muddy areas within our pastures. This makes for unstable footing for humans and equines alike.

This week we addressed that problem by hiring a company to add crushed concrete in low lying areas, especially at the entrance of each pasture.

Adding crushed concrete improves a muddy horse pasture by creating a stable, well-draining foundation that prevents soil erosion and eliminates deep mud. When horses walk over wet, soft ground, their hooves churn the soil into a thick muck. Crushed concrete acts as a hardscaping aggregate that stabilizes the ground, keeping horses on top of the surface rather than sinking into it.

The improvement also helps with hoof help as a muddy pasture can harbor harmful bacteria. That could cause hoof degradation, increases the risk of injuries, and promotes insect breeding.

So next time you visit, take a look at this small area of improvement!
