Annie's Kindness Blankets

Annie's Kindness Blankets Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile or a kind word. All of which have the potential to turn a life around. This is in memory of Annie.

My niece, Anne Marie Varney passed away on March 30, 2015, she was 35 years young and a mother of three beautiful girls. The night Annie left us was one of the hardest nights of our lives and the months that go by aren't getting any easier. She was too young, too beautiful and too loved to not share this world with us any longer. To know Annie, was to know laughter, love. loyalty and compassion.

But, the one thing Annie excelled at was being kind. She wrapped everyone she met in her love and kindness. Because of this, we decided to start spreading her love with a kindness campaign. We have started a blanket donation program called "Annie's Kindness Blankets" to honor her memory. Our goal is to make and deliver hundreds of homemade blankets to area hospitals for any child who needs some extra warmth and love during their hospital stay. Our hope is to spread kindness, warmth and love while keeping Annie's spirit alive. We consider this a kindness pay it forward program.....one small act of kindness, can change a life. We are hoping we change many. Thank you so very much. We are sure, Annie is smiling down on her kindness pay it forward program.

One Blanket at a Time

Every blanket starts the same way.

One piece of fleece.
One pair of hands.
One act of kindness.

Then it grows.

One blanket becomes two.
Two become three.
Three become four.

Before you know it, twenty blankets are folded, packed, and ready for their next journey.

What you see are blankets.

What we see are volunteers giving their time, their hearts, and their kindness to help others.

But the story doesn’t end when the blanket is finished.

The most important step is delivery.

Because that’s when a blanket becomes a hug.
A reminder that someone cares.
A message of hope when it’s needed most.

One blanket at a time.
One delivery at a time.
One act of kindness at a time.

That’s how we build a kinder world. Xoxo - Annie’s Kindness Blankets

A huge thank you to Point32Health for an incredible blanket-making event! 💜

Their team’s enthusiasm, kindness, and dedication helped create comfort and support for those who need it most. It was inspiring to see everyone come together with a shared purpose, turning simple materials into meaningful acts of care.

We are so grateful for the opportunity to work alongside such an amazing group and can’t wait to see the impact these blankets will have in our community. Thank you, Point32Health, for making a difference with us, one blanket at a time. 🦋

Chasing sunsets and spreading kindness. 🌅💜

Every donation, volunteer, and blanket helps bring a little more light into someone’s day.

The blankets are important, but the people behind them are what make AKB events so meaningful. 💜

Friends, families, neighbors, and volunteers coming together to share their time and kindness is what creates the magic. We’re excited to do it all again this Sunday.

Hugs. Hugs. Hugs.

That’s what we’re in the business of.

Not blankets.

Not fleece.

Not fabric.

Hugs.

The kind that show up when someone is scared.
The kind that remind someone they’re loved.
The kind that say, “You matter. You are not alone.”

More than 25,000 hugs later, we’re still doing what Annie taught us best:

Leading with kindness.

Every blanket is an everlasting hug from the AKB team, our volunteers, and the community.

And we have no plans of stopping.

Follow for more stories of kindness.

Teamwork at its finest. 💜

One person cutting strips, another tying knots—each blanket comes together because of the many hands and hearts behind our mission. Every step matters, and every volunteer makes a difference.

We’re so excited to see this teamwork back in action on Sunday as we create more blankets to spread comfort, kindness, and hope!

One loss changed everything.

In 2015, we lost Annie.

Like so many families facing loss, grief, and heartbreak, we were left wondering how to move forward.

So we made 35 blankets.

One for every year of her life.

What started as a simple act of kindness became a movement built on love, hope, and human connection.

Today, more than 25,000 hugs have been delivered to children, adults, families, caregivers, first responders, cancer patients, people in recovery, and those navigating some of life’s most difficult moments.

Every blanket carries the same message:

You Matter.
You Are Not Alone.

The reality is that millions of people struggle with mental health challenges every year. According to national statistics, nearly 1 in 5 U.S. adults experiences a mental illness each year, and thousands of lives are lost to su***de annually.

That is why kindness matters.

A conversation matters.

A hug matters.

A reminder that someone cares can matter more than we may ever know.

We were not trying to move on from Annie.

We were trying to move forward with her.

If you or someone you know is struggling, call or text 988 to reach the Su***de & Crisis Lifeline anytime, 24 hours a day.

Please share this message. You never know who may need the reminder today that they matter and they are not alone.

Follow for more stories of kindness, hope, and healing.

Congratulations to Liz Dow, recipient of the Annie’s Kindness Scholarship at Abington High School!

Liz was selected because of her kindness, and we are so proud to recognize the impact she has made on those around her.

Kindness doesn’t always make noise. A smile, a kind word, or simply showing up for someone can create ripples that reach farther than you may ever know. What you put into the world has a way of finding its way back.

To Liz, congratulations and keep shining.

To everyone else, keep being kind. Someone notices. Someone benefits. Someone’s day is better because of it.

We’ll be back next year to recognize another student whose kindness makes a difference. Until then, keep spreading kindness wherever you go. 💜🦋

💜 KINDNESS HAS NO AGE 💜

15 year old Noah made and donated this incredible blanket to Annie’s Kindness Blankets because he wanted someone going through a difficult time to feel comforted, loved, and not alone.

A reminder that anyone, at any age, can make a difference. 🦋

If you’ve ever wanted to help create blankets like these, we’d love to have you join us at one of our upcoming events, including June 7. High school students are always welcome to come help spread kindness and be part of something meaningful.

Every stitch.
Every knot.
Every blanket.
An everlasting hug. 💜
