Annie's Kindness Blankets Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile or a kind word. All of which have the potential to turn a life around. This is in memory of Annie.

My niece, Anne Marie Varney passed away on March 30, 2015, she was 35 years young and a mother of three beautiful girls. The night Annie left us was one of the hardest nights of our lives and the months that go by aren't getting any easier. She was too young, too beautiful and too loved to not share this world with us any longer. To know Annie, was to know laughter, love. loyalty and compassion.

But, the one thing Annie excelled at was being kind. She wrapped everyone she met in her love and kindness. Because of this, we decided to start spreading her love with a kindness campaign. We have started a blanket donation program called "Annie's Kindness Blankets" to honor her memory. Our goal is to make and deliver hundreds of homemade blankets to area hospitals for any child who needs some extra warmth and love during their hospital stay. Our hope is to spread kindness, warmth and love while keeping Annie's spirit alive. We consider this a kindness pay it forward program.....one small act of kindness, can change a life. We are hoping we change many. Thank you so very much. We are sure, Annie is smiling down on her kindness pay it forward program.

September is Su***de Prevention Month. 💜

You don’t have to handle things alone.

Sometimes our emotions and mental struggles are bigger than us, and we shouldn’t have to walk alone in that. Asking for help, reaching out to a friend, and leaning into ourselves to ask the bigger questions can bring on some healing we never knew we needed.

It’s okay to not be okay. Being vulnerable is not weak — it takes strength to open yourself up, to share what you’re feeling, and to create space for others to share their stories, too.

At Annie’s Kindness Blankets, we believe in the power of connection, support, kindness, and a simple reminder that someone cares. Every handmade blanket is an everlasting hug — a physical reminder that you matter and that your story matters.

This month, let’s check in on one another. Ask the bigger questions. Listen without judgment. Reach out. Accept help. Be vulnerable. And remind the people around you that they are worthy of love, support, and another day.

Saturday evening was one filled with so much laughter, love, connection, and gratitude at Empower’s Gratitude Garden Party. 🧡🌿

One of our AKB founders had the absolute honor of joining this beautiful night alongside so many incredible supporters and volunteers. From dinner and drinks to dancing and meaningful conversations, it was a truly special evening celebrating the people who make their work possible.

We adore Empower and everything they stand for. Their commitment to supporting children and young adults navigating the loss of a parent is something we are so grateful to witness and support.
