Too often we underestimate the power of a touch, a smile or a kind word. All of which have the potential to turn a life around. This is in memory of Annie.

My niece, Anne Marie Varney passed away on March 30, 2015, she was 35 years young and a mother of three beautiful girls. The night Annie left us was one of the hardest nights of our lives and the months that go by aren't getting any easier. She was too young, too beautiful and too loved to not share this world with us any longer. To know Annie, was to know laughter, love. loyalty and compassion. But, the one thing Annie excelled at was being kind. She wrapped everyone she met in her love and kindness. Because of this, we decided to start spreading her love with a kindness campaign. We have started a blanket donation program called "Annie's Kindness Blankets" to honor her memory. Our goal is to make and deliver hundreds of homemade blankets to area hospitals for any child who needs some extra warmth and love during their hospital stay. Our hope is to spread kindness, warmth and love while keeping Annie's spirit alive. We consider this a kindness pay it forward program.....one small act of kindness, can change a life. We are hoping we change many. Thank you so very much. We are sure, Annie is smiling down on her kindness pay it forward program.

So young, so full of life, and wearing that beautiful smile that could light up any room. A smile that is so deeply missed, a laugh we wish we could hear just one more time, and a love that will forever live on in the hearts of everyone who knew her.

A little reminder from AKB: you never know the battles someone is fighting behind the scenes, including your own. Give yourself credit for making it through the hard days, for choosing to keep going, and for finding little moments of light along the way. 🦋

You don’t have to have it all figured out to be proud of how far you’ve come. One day at a time, one breath at a time, one small victory at a time. You matter, you are enough, and you are never alone.

Sometimes, all we need is one person to say, “I believe in you. And if this whole thing goes sideways, I’ll still be here.”

Knowing someone will stay—even when things don’t work out—can give us the strength to keep going.

That’s the heart of Annie’s Kindness Blankets. Every everlasting hug is a reminder that you don’t have to get everything right to deserve love and support.

Beautiful blankets made by beautiful hearts.

A heartfelt thank-you to the wonderful team from State Street Bank for making over a dozen Annie’s Kindness Blankets, to Betsy and Sherry for overseeing it all, and to Elks Lodge #1274 in Middleborough for hosting.

Each blanket will become someone’s everlasting hug—a reminder that kindness exists, someone cares, and they are not alone.

Thank you all for giving your time and love to help carry Annie’s kindness forward.
