Hoop Hop Bakari J.B.'s annual Hoop Hop Tournament brings the Boston community together in the name of music and basketball.

The annual Hoop Hop Basketball Tournament aims to create a space for local artists, community activists and grassroots entrepreneurs to simultaneously showcase their talents and positively impact the greater Boston metropolitan area. By combining the twin energies of art and sport, the Hoop Hop movement is firmly anchored by the belief that true community empowerment must be both active and creati

ve. With a fun day of activities including exciting b-ball moves, a community awareness resource fair, locally-sourced artisan’s marketplace and live entertainment, Bakari J.B. and the Hoop Hop team have crafted one of Boston’s premier community events. While there may currently exist a disconnect between our local independent music scene and formal community based organizations, Hoop Hop offers the novel opportunity to engage participants along the full spectrum of community stake-holders. By offering a family friendly celebration of healthy competition –set in one
of Boston’s most vibrant parks and backed by some of our region’s freshest sounds – contestants and spectators alike will organically explore and strengthen their exposure to a dynamic network of activists, youth workers, emcees, vocalists, visual artists, photographers, bloggers and much more!
