RALLY AGAINST RENT INCREASES // 5.25.24
We turned it up to 11 in Allston-Brighton on Saturday with our friends from .vidaurbana and ! Tenants in nearby buildings could be seen watching on from their windows and front steps. Some cheered us on. A group of people heard us all the way on Harvard Ave and came over and joined us!

We demanded Gary and Michelle Fineberg come to the table to negotiate in good faith to lower rent increases and to stop displacing working class people from our neighborhoods.

We shared some of the conditions we commonly face in our apartments, the hundreds of code violations the Finebergs maintain.

We made it clear that if we are preparing to go on rent strike together if they continue to balk at negotiations. The rent strike threat is our power as tenants. We must embrace, not fear, wielding it when we are well-prepared, researched and strong numbered.

Tenants, united, will never be defeated! ❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥❤️‍🔥

🚨🚨JOIN FTU IN ALLSTON SATURDAY 5/25 to demand Gary and Michelle Fineberg negotiate with their tenants! We demand lower rent, decent living conditions and no evictions!

For months, over 140 Fineberg tenants have been united ready willing and able to negotiate with the Finebergs for a reasonable agreement to limit rent increases over multiple years so that tenants can have predictability and security in their housing and community. But the Finebergs continue to ignore us. People are at risk of being pushed out. Now we’re raising our voices and with the community behind us, telling Fineberg we are determined to bargain, whatever it takes!

All tenants, unite! Together, we have the power. All out for lower rent!!!
