Last night, on the third anniversary of October 7, our community came together to remember, reflect, and look ahead.

Leslie and Harry Benitah opened their home to AJC Miami and Broward NLC donors for an intimate conversation with AJC CEO Ted Deutch and author Alon Penzel about Israel, the rise in antisemitism around the world, and the challenges facing Jewish communities today.

On such a significant day, the evening gave us the opportunity to be together, have an honest conversation about the challenges before us, and reflect on what continues to give us hope.

Thank you to Leslie and Harry for opening their home and bringing our community together for this meaningful evening.

At a time when antisemitism continues to rise, one message was clear at Florida's Antisemitism and Community Safety Roundtable: protecting our communities requires partnership, not partisanship.

Gary Stein, AJC Miami and Broward board member joined elected officials, law enforcement leaders, and community stakeholders committed to confronting hate and strengthening security.

The conversation reinforced an important truth: fighting antisemitism is not solely a Jewish responsibility. Hate against one community is a threat to all communities. Real progress happens when leaders are willing to stand up against intolerance wherever it appears, including within their own circles.

We are grateful to the leaders who recognize that relationship-building, education, and moral clarity are among our strongest tools in confronting hate.

A few weeks ago, AJC Miami and Broward was proud to welcome Ambassador Marco Vinício Ribeiro Farani, Consul General of Brazil in Miami, at a special gathering with South Florida's Brazilian-Jewish community. This week, we were honored to continue that conversation during a meeting at the Consulate General of Brazil with Ambassador Farani and Deputy Consul General Cristiano Berbert.

We appreciated the opportunity to discuss ways to deepen connections among South Florida's Brazilian, Jewish, diplomatic, and business communities and were encouraged by a shared commitment to continued partnership and engagement. Special thanks to Jack Sterenberg, AJC Miami and Broward's Brazil Consular Liaison, whose leadership helped make this growing relationship possible.

In the spirit of the Jewish New Year, we were delighted to share apples and honey with Ambassador Farani and Deputy Consul General Berbert and exchange wishes for a sweet year ahead. 🍎🍯

This past Shabbat, AJC Broward and ACCESS was proud to bring together members of the Black and Jewish communities for a meaningful evening of connection, conversation, and shared tradition at our Black & Jewish Unity Shabbat Dinner.

The evening was a powerful reminder of what is possible when we come together across communities, to learn from one another, build relationships, and stand together against hate and division.

A heartfelt thank you to our incredible partners, Jewish Federation of Broward County and Urban League of Broward County, for helping make this evening possible and for their continued commitment to strengthening our community.

We are grateful to everyone who joined us and helped make the evening so special. We look forward to continuing to build bridges, deepen relationships, and create more opportunities for meaningful connection across Broward.

AJC Miami/Broward and Planned Giving Launch AJC Broward Legacy Council.
The AJC Broward/Miami Regional Office, in partnership with AJC's Planned Giving department, successfully launched the AJC Broward Legacy Council, bringing together a distinguished group of trust and estate attorneys, wealth managers, financial advisors, and life insurance professionals who work closely with clients on their estate planning.

AJC CEO Ted Deutch spoke about the important work of AJC and the organization’s impact in strengthening the Jewish community and combating antisemitism around the world.

The Legacy Council provides an opportunity to educate trusted professional advisors about AJC’s mission and work, with the goal of inspiring them to consider AJC when helping their clients incorporate charitable giving into their estate plans. By building these relationships, we are creating a network of advisors who can help secure AJC’s legacy and mission for generations to come.

Last week, AJC Miami and Broward was proud to sponsor a special reception at Centro Judaico de Miami welcoming Brazil’s new Consul General in Miami, Ambassador Marco Farani, and connecting him with South Florida’s vibrant Brazilian-Jewish community.

For AJC, diplomatic engagement is not simply about being present, it is about building trusted relationships that create opportunities for meaningful advocacy, strengthen Jewish communities, and deepen ties with Israel.

Brazil, home to one of Latin America’s largest Jewish communities and a key regional and global partner, is an important part of that work.

Conducted entirely in Portuguese, the evening featured a conversation between Ambassador Farani and AJC Brazilian Consulate Liaison and Advocacy Committee Member Jack Sterenberg, exploring the Consul General’s diplomatic journey,
priorities for Miami, and vision for strengthening ties between Brazil and South Florida. Deputy Consul General Cristiano Berbert also addressed the community.

We are grateful to Rabbi Dovi Begun and Jack Sterenberg for bringing together diplomatic and community leadership for an evening that reflected what AJC does best: building bridges between Jewish communities and global decision-makers and turning relationships into advocacy.

AJC Miami and Broward looks forward to deepening its partnership with the Consulate General of Brazil and its engagement with South Florida’s Brazilian-Jewish community.
