🌀 Hurricane Season Is Here — Don’t Forget About Your Pets! 🐾

When a storm is approaching, preparing your family is important—but don't forget that our pets depend on us to keep them safe too.

Taking a few simple steps now can make all the difference during an emergency and help ensure your furry family members stay safe, comfortable, and protected.

✅ Pet Hurricane Preparedness Tips:

🐶 Make a Plan

Know your evacuation routes.
Identify pet-friendly shelters and hotels in advance.
Arrange a backup caregiver if needed.

🎒 Prepare a Pet Emergency Kit

At least 7 days of food and water
Medications and medical records
Leash, harness, carrier, and litter supplies
Favorite toys, blankets, and comfort items
Recent photos of your pet

🏷️ Update Identification

Ensure collars and ID tags are current.
Verify microchip information is up to date.
Keep emergency contact information handy.

🏠 Bring Pets Indoors Early

Never leave pets outside during a storm.
Create a safe, quiet space inside your home.

📱 Stay Informed

Monitor local weather updates.
Follow evacuation orders and emergency guidance from local officials.

❤️ Remember: If it's not safe for you, it's not safe for your pets.

Did You Know...
The Everglades Animal Coalition provides funding for grants to 501c3 rescues for medical care, transport, spay and neuter and community outreach that pertains to dogs and cats in the Florida Everglades corridor.

We provide grants twice per year:

Session 1: Submission period is January 1st through March 31st. Award winners are notified by April 15th.

Session 2: Submission period is until August 31st and grant winners are notified by September 15th.
Please DO NOT submit more than one grant per session. Any grant applications received after August 31st at 11:59pm EST will not be considered.

Every week, new dogs and cats show up in common feeding areas in this very inhospitable terrain. In addition to being dumped, many animals are unofficially “adopted” by local land owners who feed the animals, but cannot spend the funds to spay and neuter these animals or provide basic veterinary care, allowing them to roam freely and contribute to breeding more strays.

We’re so excited to finally share this 🤍

Big Dog Ranch Rescue reached out to us as they were negotiating the release of the Ridglan beagles. They asked us to join the group of rescues stepping up to rehabilitate and find homes for these dogs.

We have committed to 20 beagles and we can’t wait to hold them and be part of their journey.

We need ALL hands on deck.
Fosters are our MOST urgent and critical need right now.
Our highest priority is finding fosters for the dogs we currently have and for the beagles coming in. This way, we can say yes to even more beagles than the 20 we initially committed to.
