We believe growing food changes lives. Since 2011, we have been teaching people to grow food.

Growing food improves nutrition security and mental health, increases time spent outdoors, and cultivates a deeper appreciation for our collective impact on the climate. We now support schools, families, and communities across the country to grow their own food through training, grants, garden bed donations, and providing materials directly to teachers and growers to create and support their garden programs.

17 years ago, The Green Heart Project started with a garden and an idea: bring students and community members together through growing food.

What happened next became about much more than simply growing food.

Young people began making the connection between the food on their plates and where it comes from. And those everyday experiences in the garden became opportunities to build skills, find purpose, and see themselves as part of a food system they have the power to shape.

That’s the story behind our partnership with The Green Heart Project and one we’re proud to finally share in full.
