It is with great pleasure we share some exciting news with all of you today!

Blindfolded International Student Cultural Exchange Program is honored to announce that Director Edwin Sheppard has been appointed by the Honorable Marleine Bastien, Miami-Dade County Commissioner for District 2, to serve as a member of the Historic Preservation Board! 🏛️

As someone who has loved history since childhood, this appointment is especially meaningful to me. In February 2022, I accomplished something very special by getting the Historic Hampton House designated as a historic landmark nationally. My passion for history and commitment to preserving our heritage have always been close to my heart.

It is truly an honor and a privilege to serve in this capacity and contribute to preserving the rich history of my hometown, the City of Miami and all of Miami-Dade County. Our history tells our story, shapes our identity, and connects generations. I believe it is our responsibility to protect these treasures for those who will come after us.

I am grateful to Commissioner Marleine Bastien for this opportunity, as well as Sarah Cody, Imani Latifah, Jacqui Coyler, Curb Gardner, and the late Dr. Enid Pinkney, whose contributions, encouragement, and dedication to preserving our history have helped inspire my own commitment to this important work.

I look forward to serving our community with passion, dedication, and commitment to preserving Miami's rich history for generations to come.

GOOD MORNING FAMILY!

Today, we proudly celebrate one of our very own, David Makwili, who has made history within the BISCEP organization!

David is the first African-born 🌍
(Zimbabwe 🇿🇼)student and BISCEP alumnus to continue his educational journey in the United States🇺🇸 from the continent of Africa.

He will be attending Barry University on an Institutional Merit Scholarship, where he will major in Finance! 🎓📚

David’s journey with BISCEP began during our 2025 installment, when Westminster International School students traveled to Miami and experienced life as host students at Miami Central Senior High School.

Today as we celebrated 7 years of BISCEP, I simply want to say thank you. 🙏🏿

To every donor, sponsor, volunteer, educator, parent, student, our village, and our international ambassadors, thank you for believing in our mission and helping us create life-changing cultural exchange opportunities over the past seven years.

We also had a wonderful time celebrating this afternoon at brunch with our BISCEP Board Members and our Africa 🌍 Bound family. Thank you for making the day so special.

Miami Central Senior High School, 🇺🇸 Ledumang Senior School(Botswana), 🇧🇼 and Westminster International School (Zimbabwe), 🇿🇼 for opening your doors, your classrooms, and your hearts.
