When people come to Camillus House, they are often focused on survival. Over time, as stability, support, and community begin to take root, something powerful happens: creativity returns.

The Miami Herald recently highlighted the Amerant Bank Annual “Empowerment Through Art” exhibition, which featured original works created by Camillus House clients who are rebuilding their lives after homelessness, addiction, trauma, and mental health challenges.

For artists like Barry Glenn, the program is more than an art class. It’s an opportunity to reconnect with purpose, build confidence, express emotions, and become part of a supportive community.

Through our art therapy program, clients work with professional artists, explore new creative outlets, and even have the opportunity to sell their work. Every painting, drawing, and sculpture tells a story of resilience, healing, and hope.

As our CEO Eddie Gloria shared, "When people start creating with us, that's a sign things are heading in the right direction, that we’re making a change, that people feel supported and that they begin to reconnect with their purpose.”

As Miami welcomes the excitement of the FIFA World Cup, we extend our gratitude to Bank of America, the Official Bank Sponsor of FIFA, for recently supporting Camillus House through a community can drive.

As part of a “Can-Engineering” activity, volunteers used GOYA Blue Label cans to build a FIFA Miami-inspired display, resulting in the donation of more than 600 canned goods to help support our mission.

We are grateful for partners who find innovative ways to bring people together while making a meaningful impact in our community. Thank you, Bank of America, for helping ensure our clients have access to nutritious meals and essential resources.

We are heartbroken by the sudden passing of our dear friend and Board Member, Michael “Mike” Carricarte. Since joining our Board in 2012, Mike was a steadfast advocate for the Camillus House mission. His generosity and dedication made a meaningful difference in the lives of those we serve. He consistently inspired us to aim higher, do more, and stay true to our purpose. Mike was more than a board member—he was an integral part of the Camillus House Family. His kindness, integrity, and compassion will be deeply missed and long remembered by us all.

Camillus House is grateful to announce a $20,000 grant from the in support of our CHEER educational initiative. This funding will help 140 formerly homeless children attend school, access critical educational support, and continue catching up with their peers as they build brighter futures.

The CHEER initiative provides students and families with resources and support to help them succeed in and out of the classroom.

Thank you to the Foundation and Ocean Reef Club members for investing in the stability of children and families across our community.

Empowerment Through Art is more than the name of our annual showcase — it is the heart of our Art Therapy Program.

Through creativity, our client artists are empowered to express themselves, find healing, and create beyond their circumstances.

Hosted by Amerant Bank, this year’s showcase was a beautiful celebration of nearly 80 pieces of inspiring artwork, representing courage, transformation, and talent. Every piece on display reflects the power of art to turn struggle into something meaningful and beautiful.

We are deeply grateful to The Boeing Company for its generous $25,000 grant in support of our veterans programming, and to Danielle Getty, Boeing’s Senior Community Investor, for joining us at Camillus House.

This investment will help us continue providing housing, case management, counseling, employment assistance, and other critical services that help veterans successfully reintegrate into the community.

No one who has served our country should face homelessness upon returning home. Thanks to partners like Boeing, we can continue helping Veterans access the tools, resources, and support they need to rebuild their lives and achieve long-term independence. 🇺🇸💙
