🏒🌈 What happens when a fanbase becomes a force for good? The Unrivaled Loons — a community of fans united by their love of author Rachel Reid and her beloved Game Changers series — were celebrated at the New York Sirens PRIDE Celebration Game as official Parkinson's Champions. And we couldn't be more honored to have them in our corner.

Rachel Reid, the New York Times bestselling author behind Heated Rivalry and the Game Changers series, was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in August 2023. Fans who loved her books, who saw themselves in her characters, and many who carry their own personal connections to Parkinson's, came together as a community to take action.

Led by Heather, the Unrivaled Loons set out with a fundraising goal of $2,500. They blew past it in the first month — and then kept going. Their current goal? $8,124. As Heather explains: "That may seem like a random number, but 81 and 24 are the hockey jersey numbers for the two main characters in Heated Rivalry." 🩵 Even their fundraising total tells a love story.

Their support carries special meaning for LGBTQ+ individuals living with Parkinson's—a community that deserves to see itself reflected in the fight for better care and a cure. Because Parkinson's doesn't discriminate, and neither does compassion. 🏳️‍🌈

Columnist and Parkinson’s Foundation Ambassador, Mike Mooney, shares…why paraquat — a pesticide already banned in more than 70 countries — has become part of a growing public health conversation around Parkinson’s disease, prevention, and accountability.

As states begin introducing legislation to ban paraquat, the question becomes harder to ignore: How much evidence is enough before action is taken?

📣“This is no longer theoretical. It is legislative. It is immediate.”

If you’re living with Parkinson’s disease, the decisions being made every day at federal, state and local levels can directly shape your life. States can often move faster than Congress and the federal government to protect and improve the lives of people living with PD.

State lawmakers are also a lot more accessible, and you're more likely to actually get a chance to sit down, share your Parkinson's story and make the case for legislation that can make a difference!

Here's how the Parkinson's Foundation is putting that to work on the state level to advance our policy priorities:

What happens at the state level is connected to everything. The research funding secured this year could become a new treatment option in five years.
