As we close out the month of August, we look back at members honored and awarded at our August general membership meeting.

Retired Melbourne/Indialantic Letter Carrier Dave Delage was presented with a 35 year NALC membership pin. Dave served our branch in the past as a shop steward and Branch Vice President. He currently is the editor of our branch newsletter and an all-around branch handyman.

Thank you Dave for your service to the community and our Branch!

Cape Canaveral Letter Carrier Nelson Torres accepted the final branch scholarship on behalf of his daughter Ariana. Ariana is already away studying at college.

Congratulations Nelson and Ariana!

After a long week of extended General Sessions, Branch 2689 delegates to the National Association of Letter Carriers National Convention are wrapping up union business at Fridays extended session. Here are some pictures from the week.

Branch 2689 welcomed several special guests at our July membership meeting this past week.

Our National Business Agent Eddie Davidson was in attendance and addressed our branch, speaking on current contractual and legislative matters. After speaking, Eddie took questions and squarely addressed member concerns about issues affecting city letter carriers.

Assistant to the President for Community Service Christina Vela Davidson spoke to our branch about the NALC Disaster Relief Foundation and Veterans Group. During our meeting, the branch passed a motion to donate $1500 to the NALC Disaster Relief Foundation and $500 to the NALC Veterans Group.

Thank you Eddie, Christina, and RAA Ben Paul for attending our branch meeting. You are all welcome anytime.

Membership pins were also awards to several longtime members.

📌 Retired Melbourne Letter Carrier Pete Avena was presented with a 55 year membership pin.

📌 Retired Palm Bay East Letter Carrier Dave Diesner was presented with a 50 year gold membership card and pin. NBA Davidson read a letter from our National President and congratulated Dave for reaching this momentous milestone.

📌 Retired Letter Carrier Wayne Roberts was presented with a 40 year membership pin. Wayne retired from Grand Junction, CO and transfered his membership to our branch about six years ago, where he served our members as an outside shop steward for several years.

📌 Rockledge Letter Carrier Diego Ruiz was presented a 25 year NALC membership pin.

Thank you to all of our long time members and thank you for all you have done for our branch and our communities.

Branch scholarships were also awarded to the children of several branch members. Scholarship winners include:

🎓 Elijah, son of branch member Van Razis.

🎓 Danielle, daughter of branch member Darren Connors.

🎓 Landon, son of branch member Jamison Norton.
