First I want to apologize for the radio silence during July. However we’re back in the saddle here at bikemedford. A few things. Third Friday ride is back in August (more details will be posted). We have T-shirts and stickers now for bikemedford. And we’re still letting the city of Medford know we care about bike lanes. If you haven’t already please let them know now!

Help save Medford Oregon's Main Street protected bike lane. Contact city council to preserve safe cycling infrastructure.

Dear Medford City Council,

I am writing as a Medford resident to ask the council to support safe, connected bike infrastructure in our city, starting with the protected bike lane on Main Street.

A protected bike lane on Main Street is the kind of infrastructure that makes a downtown work for everyone. Families biking to school, residents running errands without a car, visitors exploring downtown shops, and commuters all rely on streets that feel safe to ride. Replacing the existing protected, two-way bike lane with an unbuffered painted lane is a step backwards.

In April, the council unanimously adopted the 2026 Transportation Safety Action Plan. The TSAP identifies Main Street as part of the city's High Injury Network and explicitly recommends buffered bike lanes and conflict striping on Main Street. The direction set by Option 2A is at odds with the plan the council itself just adopted.

I am asking the council to revisit this decision and to keep Medford on a path toward safer streets: keep the protected bike lane on Main Street, follow the TSAP, and invest in a connected network of bike and pedestrian facilities downtown.

Thank you for your consideration.

Sincerely,
[YOUR NAME]
