Medfield TV is once again honored to be a recipient of a Medfield Foundation, Inc. Legacy Fund grant! Over the last four years, the Legacy Fund has granted nearly $25,000 to Medfield TV to support our live multi camera streaming, oral history podcasting, and now government meeting equipment upgrade projects.
Since 2013, the funding mechanism that has sustained community media centers such as Medfield TV, fees on cable subscriptions, has rapidly declined. Across Massachusetts, our colleagues are making the hard choices to close their physical stations and lay off staff in order to make ends meet, ultimately decreasing vital services to their communities. Unless and until a law updating the funding structure for community media is passed on Beacon Hill, Medfield TV and the 250 other centers in our state continue to rely on generous donations and grants from our supporters to continue offering vital services to residents.
While the reality may seem grim, Medfield TV is working hard to seek financial support and build new initiatives to continue serving the Medfield community as long as possible. We are so thankful for the support we have from organizations such as the Medfield Foundation Legacy Fund who are true partners in our work.
