Some of the feedback we've received regarding our initiatives towards Creative District designation was regarding an events calendar that would help create visibility for artists, makers, and creative entrepreneurs of Meadville.

Although it's not exclusive to arts-related events, we do maintain a community events calendar for any public event in the 16335 zip code! If you'd like your event to be included on the calendar and our Monday morning community events posts, you can submit your event information through the form here: https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSdUqdvoUJxYM4dfep5jAcvEdA1uiZLKte54UiamE-sG29_Cnw/viewform

In order to guarantee promotion of your event, events need to be submitted at minimum 7 days in advance. Help us help promote the great lineup of community events hosted right here in Meadville!

Season 2 is out with a 2-part episode and a special guest.

Season 2 is here — and we’re kicking it off with a story that has wealth, ambition, eccentricity, family drama, and one very mysterious mansion.

In Episode 1, “Bousson On Up (Part 1),” we’re joined by another sibling -- our sister Vanessa — who's a maker in her own right. Together we dig (almost literally) into the remarkable story of the Bousson sisters, a story that begins far from the Meadville area. After years of poverty in New York, teen sisters, Lydie and Othilie Bousson, built a highly successful shirt-making business on Broadway, creating clothing for the who's who of the Gilded Age including the Vanderbilts and Astors and amassing a fortune before they were even thirty.

Then they came to Crawford County. They built an elaborate country estate in Frenchtown, filled it with European furnishings, hosted parties and theatricals, ran a post office from the mansion, and reportedly released 200 canaries inside on move-in day.

But the fortune didn’t last. Bad investments, questionable associates, family loss, and years of financial decline eventually left the once-grand mansion abandoned, looted, and surrounded by local legend. And that’s where things get even stranger.

Listen to “Bousson On Up (Part 1)” wherever you get your podcasts. https://meadvillecrc.org/meadville-in-the-making/
