Braided Roots

Braided Roots Here at Braided Roots our mission is to inspire local communities to reconnect with nature by nourishing the land and people.

We understand the value of Earth centered community and stewardship, and are creating a space to foster that goal. This land is a location for education, innovation, plant wisdom, hands on learning, and land restoration. We bring forth skill sets of local community members to empower and educate everything from farming, foraging and self sufficiency; to permaculture and native landscape design. We strive to reconnect people to themselves and the land.

Spring is almost here! 🌱 We are extremely excited to get the season started on our property and many of our seeds have already been planted!
We are offering 2 workshops in early March for new gardeners or ones who have less experience in germination. Even though we always love to purchase plants and support other growers...there is something special about starting your own plants from seed!
Join Courtney in Chicago at The Eco Flamingo on March 10th (7pm) or in Grayslake at Somethings Brewing Inc on March 13th (6pm). Learn more about stratification, scarification, light dependent germination and further ways to help start your seeds!! Check out our website to get more details. See you then!

BIG NEWS! We at Braided Roots have officially partnered with the country wide Pollinator Pathway Program. Pollinator Pathway is a 501c3 non-profit that started as a grass roots movement in just one town in Connecticut.
We are excited to build a huge movement in Lake and McHenry Counties to support a safe space for people to learn and grow and for our pollinators to live. We look to educate, inspire, and create positive change for our local communities.
There is no one creating this space yet, so we at Braided Roots thought, LET’S DO IT!
We look forward to building this supportive community over the years to come.
