Sixth Week 8/9 - 8/14: Going For Gold And Ending Summer With An Olympic Week To Remember!
Our final week of camp at 4-H Camp Owahta was filled with sports, games, teamwork, and plenty of Olympic spirit! For Olympic week our campers were divided into four countries, USA, Germany, Spain, and France and competed throughout the week to earn points and bring home gold. We kicked off the week with hockey where Germany took home gold, Spain earned silver, and USA took bronze. Next up was our arts and crafts challenge where USA took gold, France took silver, and Germany took bronze. Campers then put their skills to the test during archery and soccer with USA taking gold, Germany taking silver, and France taking bronze.

The competition continued with our nature battle where teams worked together to build bridges using materials from the outdoors. USA once again took gold, followed by Germany with silver and France with bronze. Later that night campers gathered for a fun and competitive foosball match where France took gold, USA earned silver, and Germany took bronze. To wrap up our Olympic week campers competed in a scavenger hunt and a waterfront relay race giving everyone one last chance to earn extra points for their country!

From battling it out in the hockey rink and soccer field to getting creative with arts and crafts, testing their ain in archery, building bridges in nature, and racing through the waterfront relay, our final week at 4-H Camp Owahta was the perfect way to end an incredible summer. Throughout the week, our campers showed us the true Olympic spirit by working together, encouraging one another, and giving every challenge their best effort. While there were medals to be won, the best part of Olympic week was the memories, friendships, and teamwork our campers will take with them long after summer camp comes to an end. What an amazing summer it has been at 4-H Camp Owahta!

📣Blog Post #6📣
Fifth Week 8/2 - 8/7: Building Nests, Creating Color, And Crashing The Boards: An Unforgettable Fifth Week At Camp!

Our fifth week of camp at 4-H Camp Owahta was filled with creativity, adventure, teamwork, and plenty of fun! During outdoor adventure campers put their skills and imagination to the test as they learned about birds and built their very own bird nest using natural materials. Campers had the opportunity to work together and explore how birds use different materials to create safe and sturdy homes. In arts and crafts campers brought plenty of color to the week with a fun filled tie-dye activity, creating unique and colorful designs that they could take home and remember their time at camp. Last week we had the hockey boards put up which became a pretty big hit during our free choice period of the day. It gave the campers a fun week full of grabbing sticks, practicing their skills, and enjoying some friendly hockey fun!

We also want to give an honorable mention to our low ropes course where campers challenged themselves, worked together, and encouraged one another as they made their way through the course. Our ropes course has eight different elements but this week our campers focused on the Full House and Nitro Swing elements. In Full House campers were tasked to move across the beams shaped in a house without touching the ground while they have to sort themselves based on the questions asked. For our Nitro Swing the campers were tasked to swing across from one platform to the other and then eventually try to swing over and fit everyone onto varying sized platforms. The most we got was 16 campers on one platform!

To wrap up another amazing week our theatre department took the stage with a hilarious performance about princesses in therapy. Laughing through all of the relationship drama between our favorite disney princesses and princes, reminding everyone that even princesses have problems too.

From building birds nests and creating colorful tie-dye designs to playing hockey, conquering the low ropes course, and going through the problems of our theatrical princesses, our fifth week at 4-H Camp Owahta was packed with unforgettable moments. Our campers continued to show us the importance of teamwork, courage, and most importantly having fun together. We can’t wait to see what adventures are waiting for us next week!

Third Week 7/19 - 7/24: Casting Lines, Celebrating Summerween, And Sailing Into An Unforgettable Adventure!

Our fourth week of camp at 4-H Camp Owahta was filled with creativity, adventure, spooky fun, and unforgettable memories! During outdoor adventure campers put their skills to the test as they designed and created their very own fishing poles, learning about patience, creativity, and the excitement of exploring the outdoors. One camper even had the incredible experience of catching a fish using the fishing pole she made herself, making the adventure even more memorable! In arts and crafts campers let their imaginations run wild as they created decorations and costumes to prepare for our exciting Summerween celebration.

Campers and staff embraced the spooky spirit of the week with a haunted house, a thrilling haunted trail, and a fun filled fashion show where everyone had the chance to show off their creative costumes. To wrap up the week our theatre department took campers on an exciting journey through history with their own rendition of the Titanic. Campers brought the story to life as they acted out a dramatic war that took place aboard the ship before the Titanic ultimately sank, creating an exciting and memorable performance for everyone to enjoy.

From catching fish and creating costumes to facing spooky challenges and beginning a dramatic story to the stage, our fourth week at 4-H Camp Owahta was packed with adventure, creativity, and teamwork. Our campers once again showed us just how much fun can be found when we explore, create, and make memories together. We can’t wait to see what exciting adventures the rest of the summer has in store!
