“The Pioneer Workers” GFWC Ohio Blue Book of Distinguished Women honored members of the GFWC Women’s Club of Barnesville during this year’s GFWC Ohio Annual Convention.
“The Blue Book of Distinguished Women” was established in 1964 to honor women in Ohio who have made significant contributions to their clubs, communities, and the state; through their accomplishments, character, and positive influence, they have earned the recognition of having their names entered in “The Blue Book of Distinguished Women."
Honorees were Maxine Mayhugh (awarded to her daughter, Melinda Anderson), Helen Detling (awarded to her daughter, Lou Ann Swallie), Sherry McClellan for her forward-thinking and leadership role as 2006-2008 GFWC Ohio Director of Junior Clubs, and Sandy Chambers for her more than 50 years as a committed club member, serving as chair of the Health and Wellness Committee. She is dedicated to ensuring that underprivileged young girls and boys receive the personal care essentials needed to thrive in school. Rose Logston, Great Lakes President, presented Peggy Hickenbottom with a Pioneer Workers Certificate, as she has consistently embodied the values of philanthropy and leadership, serving as a role model for others, being forward-thinking, developing, and perpetually striving for excellence in all that she undertakes. Members and family members each received a certificate and a beautiful bouquet of blue silk flowers. Congratulations ladies.
