Steps to take during a power outage
👉Keep refrigerator and freezer doors closed.
👉If the doors stay closed, food will stay safe up to: 4 hours in a refrigerator, 48 hours in a full freezer, 24 hours in a half-full freezer.
👉If the power has been out for 4 hours, and a cooler and ice are available, put refrigerated perishable foods in the cooler. To keep them at 40°F or below, add ice or a cold source like frozen gel packs.

Steps to take after a power outage
👉Never taste food to know if it is safe to eat. When in doubt, throw it out.
👉Throw out perishable food in your refrigerator (meat, fish, cut fruits and vegetables, eggs, milk, and leftovers) after 4 hours without power or without a cold source like ice. Throw out any food with an unusual smell, color, or texture.
👉If you have an appliance thermometer in your refrigerator, check to see if it is still at 40 °F or below.
👉Check temperatures of food kept in coolers or your refrigerator with an added cold source. Throw out food that has thawed or is above 40°.
👉You can safely refreeze or cook thawed frozen food that still contains ice crystals or is at 40 °F or below.

Camargo Township District Library thanks for hosting our BASE workshop today!
We had successful STEM projects and planted seeds. Each youth took home their own personalized flower pot!

After the bluetooth speaker was built, we connected a phone and everyone jammed out to some country!

Can't wait for next month's BASE workshop July 16th!

Due to today's forecast, here is the reminder of the Community Rec Center's use as a storm shelter:

1 - The storm shelter is available during normal business hours; in today's case, the center closes at 8:00 p.m. The shelter is located in the locker room area of the building, not the lobby or gymnasium areas. TO ACCESS THE SHELTER DURING A WARNING IN PROGRESS, YOU MUST ENTER FROM THE WEST/BACK SIDE OF THE BUILDING VIA THE WALK-THRU DOORS (WHICH WOULD BE UNLOCKED FOR THIS EVENT). DUE TO POWER SETTINGS, THE SHELTER GETS "LOCKED DOWN" AND MAY NOT BE INSTANTLY ACCESSIBLE FROM THE LOBBY/GYMNASIUM .
2 - Should there be a tornado warning at the time of closing, staff will remain to keep the shelter open until it expires. At that time, the building would be closed.
3 - In the event of a disaster (think direct hit), there are emergency plans in place that would be activated to open various City buildings as needed.

Hopefully this will not be needed...everyone please stay safe this afternoon.
