Mission
The James P Harrington Organization is a nurturing and inclusive community of wellness, healing, and transformation. Vision
A center in every community that provides holistic support for people seeking wellness so they can heal, build strength, and transform pain into power. Located on the pristine riverbank of the South River marsh, JPH’s center at Ferry Hill is situated on 9.3 acres of

grounds and trails, including a historic barn, and attached building with an adjacent cottage. This peaceful retreat property has been in service of the community for over 60 years with a history of providing support for families through women-focused programming, robust youth-based summer programming, and a respite location to connect with nature. The JPH Organization was established in 2022 with a dual purpose of restoring and revitalizing this historic property and evolving it into a nature-based family wellness sanctuary. Wellness
JPH has a non-clinical and holistic approach to community wellness. Over 30 wellness and mental health professionals contribute to program design and content and delivery. Healing
When you step onto the Ferry Hill property, the healing energy of nature can be felt, seen and heard through the majestic, wooded conservation setting, the beautiful marsh vistas, and the sounds of wildlife. Transformation
Our free and low-cost community programming aims to provide equity and dignity for those who need mental health support. A supportive community can transform an individual’s trajectory of healing and growth.

A special thank you to the North River Arts Society for a beautiful collaboration!

Talented artists spent time capturing our landscapes through plein air painting, and many of these stunning pieces were generously donated.

Keep an eye out, as they'll be featured at our annual Dragonfly Dinner! 🎨🌿

Lights, camera, confidence! 🎭✨

We hosted all sorts of creative activities this summer like theater with Marshfield High students, dragon parades, and sing-a-longs at the end of each day.

These activities allow campers to bring their passion for the stage to life. From learning the Macarena to creating their own routines and costumes, campers spent the summer building confidence, creativity, and a love for performing.

It all came together at our end-of-camp talent show.

A big thank you to Marshfield FACTS, our incredible partner in teen substance use prevention. 🫂

Together, we hosted a season of Good Clean Fun events where teens played team-building games, swam in the pool, and enjoyed the waterslide, all while learning about mental health and the importance of preventing substance use.

We're grateful for partners like Marshfield FACTs who share our commitment to keeping our youth healthy, informed, and connected. 💙

Every child deserves to feel seen, supported, and successful.

Thanks to the generous support of the Edwin Phillips Foundation and Goodwill Hunters, our "Purple Paras" have been by campers' sides all summer, helping with everything from emotional regulation to navigating friendships.

Their presence makes inclusion possible and ensures every camper can participate, belong, and thrive. 💜

At our Child Wellness Camp this summer, mindfulness, meditation, and yoga were a part of every camper's day, alongside swimming, nature exploration, and therapeutic art.

This holistic approach reflects our belief that healing happens when we care for the mind, body, and spirit together. 💛

By giving kids these tools early, we're helping build stronger, more connected families and a healthier community for years to come.

Until next year. . .

Thank you so much to Team Blue from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Massachusetts for sprucing up our buildings as we transition from summer camp into fall.

Preparing the JPH property for a season filled with daytime programs, retreats, and events is no easy task. Your hard work, energy, and enthusiasm made so much progress possible.

Thank you, Team Blue, for always showing up ready to work, being supportive from start to finish, and bringing the best attitude along the way. We’re truly grateful for your time and support.

We're soaking up the golden hour of summer with evening adult wellness programs through the end of August.

Looking ahead to the fall, we'll expand our schedule with more community-led programs, including:

🎨 The return of Community Open Art Studio, thanks to volunteers who spent the summer training
🦥 🧘🏼 Dragonfly yoga. If you haven't tried it yet, these are gentle, all-level classes we call “sloth yoga” due to their slow, relaxing nature. Perfect for unwinding.

Come join us as we transition to fall and experience these offerings for yourself.

At JPH, we are committed to making wellness accessible by offering a wide range of holistic programs that are mostly free, with some available at a low cost. We offer both adult and youth programs…

We’d like to thank the Lennymade Foundation for sponsoring our last week of summer camp at JPH. We are beyond grateful for your ongoing support. 💚

The theme for the week was 'Center Stage Extravaganza,' and it began with former Marshfield High School drama students guiding campers through creative sessions in singing, dancing, acting, costume-making, and more. These sessions encouraged each child to explore self-expression in a supportive and upbeat environment.

It was a true joy to witness campers discovering their unique talents. Through performances, art, and group activities that celebrated their individual strengths, each camper gained confidence and a deeper sense of self-worth.

Thank you again, Lennymade Foundation, for making this memorable and enriching week possible for our campers and community.

Each year, our campers look forward to the visit from FoxRock Farms, a day when we are invited to slow down and learn about the importance of pollinators in nature.

Together, we explored the world of bees, watched them at work, and discovered how pollinators help sustain life all around us.

Fox Rock Farms does such a wonderful job bringing their mission to life through hands-on learning.

By exploring natural habitats, pollination, and organic practices, our campers saw firsthand how caring for bees and the environment helps create healthy, thriving ecosystems.

We learned how small, thoughtful choices, like expanding hives, planting native flowers, and using sustainable gardening methods, can make a real difference. And this is something FoxRock does all over the South Shore of Massachusetts.

These lessons planted seeds of curiosity and respect in each camper.

Experiences like this inspire our young people to care for themselves, each other, and the world we share.

We are deeply grateful to Fox Rock Farms for sharing their knowledge and helping our children grow into stewards of the land.
