Mission
The James P Harrington Organization is a nurturing and inclusive community of wellness, healing, and transformation. Vision
A center in every community that provides holistic support for people seeking wellness so they can heal, build strength, and transform pain into power. Located on the pristine riverbank of the South River marsh, JPH’s center at Ferry Hill is situated on 9.3 acres of

grounds and trails, including a historic barn, and attached building with an adjacent cottage. This peaceful retreat property has been in service of the community for over 60 years with a history of providing support for families through women-focused programming, robust youth-based summer programming, and a respite location to connect with nature. The JPH Organization was established in 2022 with a dual purpose of restoring and revitalizing this historic property and evolving it into a nature-based family wellness sanctuary. Wellness
JPH has a non-clinical and holistic approach to community wellness. Over 30 wellness and mental health professionals contribute to program design and content and delivery. Healing
When you step onto the Ferry Hill property, the healing energy of nature can be felt, seen and heard through the majestic, wooded conservation setting, the beautiful marsh vistas, and the sounds of wildlife. Transformation
Our free and low-cost community programming aims to provide equity and dignity for those who need mental health support. A supportive community can transform an individual’s trajectory of healing and growth.

People come to JPH for many different reasons: friendship, community, mental health, and more.

We’re not a recovery-specific organization, although many in recovery really value our programs.

This is Lindsey’s story. 💚

Her road to recovery left her feeling lonely, isolated, and hopeless. That’s where JPH came in, creating a space for her to be authentically herself, connect with like-minded individuals, and start her journey as a volunteer and eventually as a staff member here.

Lindsey’s smile welcomes so many to the center every day, IYKYK. And this year, she will be assisting with our camp program as well!

Lindsey’s hope is to extend the sentiment of beyond May so that we can show up for one another with kindness, patience, and love.

If you haven’t been to JPH yet, what are you waiting for?

Stay tuned as we continue to highlight our community members and their stories.

May is Mental Health Awareness Month, and there's still time to make a difference.

Mental health challenges are touching more lives than ever before. Research tells us that 1 in 5 children and adolescents experience a mental health concern each year. Many carry burdens we cannot see. Adults face their own quiet struggles, too, with many suffering in silence.

At JPH, we know that no one should have to face these challenges alone.

Our center serves as a place of care, safety, and belonging, and your donation helps make free and low-cost mental health programming possible right here on the South Shore.

This month, we invite you to stand with us. Together, we can bring hope and healing to those who need it most.

Let's raise money for better community mental health!

You don't have to be flexible to do yoga. You just have to show up. 💙

Emma Boyle, former owner of Dragonfly Yoga Studio, brings her signature warmth to the JPH barn every Tuesday and Thursday morning. Yoga is a beautiful practice for people of all ages and abilities — and Emma’s students prove that every single week.

All bodies. All levels. All welcome.

🌟 These classes are ongoing fundraisers to support free and accessible programming for the wider JPH community.

Spring is in the air, and so is the generosity of some truly incredible people. 🌱

We are beyond grateful to Blackmount Landscape LLC Smith and Sons, Landscape, Forestry and Power Equipment Company for their collaborative donation of landscape materials that are already making a visible difference here on the property.

As we gear up for summer camp, retreats, and events filling up our calendar over the next few months, knowing we have partners like these in our corner means everything.

These donations mean an investment in every camper, every guest, and every moment that will happen on these grounds this season. That's community. ❤️

Thank you both from the bottom of our hearts. We can't wait for everyone to see what we've been building together. 🙌

Last month, we hosted Breaking the Cycle, a community conference exploring the intersections of trauma, substance use, prevention, recovery, and whole-person healing.

What stood out most was the people who showed up: practitioners, caregivers, families, survivors, and community members sitting together, learning together, and choosing to lean into a conversation that too often goes unspoken.

We are deeply grateful to everyone who attended and helped bring this vision to life.

Events like this are only possible because of the people who care, and this community is full of them.

Thank you. We look forward to continuing this work together. 💙

There's something special about working with contractors who truly get it. They know your property, they care about it like it's their own, and they show up for their community.

A huge shoutout to Chris and the entire team at East Coast Mini Splits & Heat Pumps for being exactly that kind of partner. Your dedication, professionalism, and genuine investment in the people you serve don't go unnoticed. 🙌

We're grateful to work alongside people who make our jobs easier AND make our community better. Thank you!
