Medical Equipment Loan Closet Meets Needs of the Marshfield Community
For many years, one of the Parish Nurses serving First Presbyterian Church, started collecting used medical equipment for use by our congregation. As community needs increased, we opened the program to the community with occasional pieces being sent distances from the Marshfield area. The program took another spurt of growth in the spring of 2025 when ADRC was unable to continue their lending program due to lack of space in their new location and they referred people to us. We work in conjunction with Good News Project in Wausau when we do not have an item and usually folks can find what they need there.
The loan closet is housed in the First Presbyterian Church building, has no cost to clients and is managed by a group of volunteers. Nadene Lautenschlager is the present coordinator, taking calls for equipment requests, setting up visits for sign-out and return of items, for potential donations of equipment as well as cleaning equipment. There are an additional 5 volunteers, some of whom help clean equipment and/or cover calls when she is unavailable to meet the client.
Nadene would like to have a co-coordinator; someone who can take over the calls for requests, returns, donations and information as well as meeting the client at the church. There are no set hours of operation for the loan closet, and we do require that people call to make an appointment convenient for both the caller and the coordinator.
If you are a person who gets satisfaction from helping others and have some extra time on your hands, we may have just the position for you at the FPC Medical Equipment Loan Closet.
For additional information, please contact Nadene Lautenschlager at 715-207-3205.
