As Joy Services Supportive Health Care Inc. builds relationships with like-minded people, we’re feeling blessed by the possibilities unfolding around us.

With the possibility of securing a permanent home and a coalition forming in our community, the community hub we envision is feeling more possible with every connection. 🏡✨

A place where we serve from JOY and build on each other’s strengths. A community that walks through life with you—cheering you on through the good times and standing beside you through the difficult ones.

A community that works together, connects the dots, and turns caring into action for the people who call Marshfield, Wisconsin, home.

Everyone has something to offer, and everyone needs someone sometimes. Together, we can create more opportunities to feel welcomed, supported, and connected.

People need people. We’re better together. 💛

💛💜 A DAY OF LEARNING AND CONNECTION

Today, Joy Services Supportive Health Care Inc. attended the Parkinson’s conference at Hotel Marshfield. Amazing speakers, valuable information, and a community coming together made it a meaningful day.

Thank you Marshfield Area Respite Care Center for bringing such an amazing community together. Your work created space for learning, connecting, and reminding people they don’t have to navigate life’s challenges alone.

At Joy Services, we believe people need people. Today was a beautiful reminder of that. 💛💜

💛 WHAT IF COMMUNITY IS ONE OF OUR MOST FISCALLY RESPONSIBLE INVESTMENTS?

Joy Services Supportive Health Care Inc. does not receive government funding for our community programming.

That matters.

We believe there is tremendous value in investing in people before needs become bigger, more complicated and more expensive.

At Joy, we're watching something happen:

Community creates confidence.
Confidence creates bravery.
Bravery creates action.

And action can look like:

Someone advocating for what they need.

Someone finding employment.

Someone becoming involved in another community organization.

Someone building friendships and a stronger natural support system.

Someone saying:

“I need my time. I need my community.”

Those aren't small outcomes.

They represent people becoming active participants in their own lives.

We aren't claiming that a shared lunch replaces healthcare, case management, mental-health treatment or other necessary services.

It doesn't.

We're asking a different question:

What becomes possible when people have community alongside those services?

When someone gains confidence.

When natural supports grow.

When someone finds purpose.

When someone begins advocating for themselves.

When someone takes their own next step.

Joy's approach is simple:

🪑 Make the chair available.
💛 Build community.
🌱 Encourage confidence.
💜 Celebrate people as they take action.

And we're doing it without asking government to fund a seat at the table.

As Joy grows, we're asking Marshfield's individuals, businesses, foundations and community partners to help us keep that chair available.

Because investing a little in connection, belonging and opportunity today may help people build greater independence and stronger community participation tomorrow.

That's what prevention can look like.

That's empowerment.

And that's the A.N.S.W.E.R.:

🪑 WHO WILL SIT IN THE EMPTY CHAIR?

We don't know yet.

That's the beautiful part.

Because we've already watched what can happen after someone first pulls up a chair at Joy.

We've watched participants find friendships.

We've watched confidence grow.

We've watched people try things they weren't sure they could do.

We've watched people find employment.

We've watched people become involved elsewhere in their community.

We've watched people advocate for themselves and say what they need.

We've watched people move from simply attending...

to taking action in their own lives.

Not because Joy did it for them.

They did it.

They found their courage.

They made their choices.

They took their next steps.

Joy simply provided something human beings have always needed along the way:

Community.

💛 Community creates confidence.
💜 Confidence creates bravery.
💛 Bravery creates action.
💜 Action creates the A.N.S.W.E.R.

Action Nourishing Society With Empowering Resources.

That's why the Empty Chair matters.

We don't know who will sit there next.

We don't know their story yet.

We don't know what their next step will be.

We just want to make sure there's a chair waiting when they're ready.

💛 “I NEED MY TIME. I NEED MY COMMUNITY.”

Recently, someone who regularly participates at Joy was at an appointment with members of their support team.

They wanted to leave early because they didn't want to miss Joy.

Their message was essentially:

“You've got everything on paper. You know what's happening. I need my time. I need my community. I need Joy for my mental health.”

Think about that for a moment.

This person wasn't waiting for someone else to decide what they needed.

They advocated for themselves.

They recognized that connection mattered to them.

They spoke up.

And then they took action.

That's the kind of growth we have been privileged to witness.

Community created confidence.
Confidence created bravery.
Bravery created action.

And action is where the A.N.S.W.E.R. begins.

Joy Services isn't a mental-health treatment program.

We're a community.

A place to have lunch.

A place to laugh.

A place to create.

A place to make friends.

A place where someone knows your name and notices when you walk through the door.

And sometimes, having that community becomes important enough that a person learns to say:

“This matters to me. I need this time.”

That is their voice.

That is their choice.

That is action.

🪑 And that's why we're making room for more.

💛 MARSHFIELD, HELP US MAKE ROOM. 💜

We've been sharing that Joy is growing—and that growing Joy needs a permanent home.

But a home is more than a building.

It takes a community to keep the door open.

At the heart of what we're building is a simple symbol:

🪑 The Empty Chair.

That chair is for someone we haven't met yet.

Someone who may walk through the door looking for friendship.

Someone whose life has changed and whose circle has gotten smaller.

Someone who wants to laugh, create, celebrate, volunteer, meet new people—or simply sit beside someone for a while.

That chair will always be waiting.

And as Joy prepares for this next chapter, we're asking Marshfield to begin thinking about something with us:

How will we, as a community, keep that chair available?

Maybe you'll become a volunteer.

Maybe your business will someday sponsor a Joy Chair.

Maybe you're an artist who will help bring one to life.

Maybe you'll donate supplies, share a talent, host an activity, become a monthly Joy Maker, sponsor an event, or simply tell someone who needs connection:

“There's a chair waiting for you.”

We don't need everyone to do everything.

We need many people willing to do something.

Because a permanent Joy House won't belong to one person.

It will take volunteers, businesses, artists, donors, neighbors, participants and friends choosing—together—to Make Room for Joy.

And eventually, we'll show you exactly where Joy is coming home. 👀💛💜

For now, we're asking our community to start pulling up a chair.

💛💜 **WE’RE GROWING—AND WE NEED JOY AMBASSADORS!** 💜💛

Joy Services Supportive Health Care Inc. is expanding, and we’re looking for volunteers to help make room for more connection, friendship, and belonging!

**What does a Joy Ambassador do?**

🚪 Welcomes people with a friendly hello
👂 Listens and helps people feel seen and valued
🤝 Makes introductions and encourages connection
🎨 Helps with activities, events, and shared experiences
🌱 Helps people connect with resources and take their next step

You don’t need all the answers. Sometimes the most meaningful thing you can say is simply: **“I’m glad you’re here.”**

As we grow—with hopes of establishing a permanent Joy House for our community—we’re looking for Joy Ambassadors to help create welcoming experiences, build friendships, and make room for more people to belong. 💛💜

We need people willing to share their time, talents, and presence. Whether you enjoy greeting guests, helping behind the scenes, or sitting beside someone who needs company, there’s a way to help.

**People need people. And growing Joy takes a village.**
