🎃👻 𝗛𝗮𝗹𝗹𝗼𝘄𝗲𝗲𝗻 𝗳𝘂𝗻 𝗼𝗻 𝗠𝗮𝗶𝗻 𝗦𝘁𝗿𝗲𝗲𝘁! 👻🎃

The Marlborough Lions were proud to once again be part of Marlborough’s annual Horribles Parade and Trick-or-Treat celebration on Main Street!

One of the best parts of this annual tradition is seeing the smiles on all the kids’ faces — and the parents who get just as much into the Halloween spirit! From creative costumes to spooky characters, everyone brought a little extra magic to Main Street.

And, of course, we loved handing out some treats of our own! 🍬 It’s just one small way we can give back and say 𝗧𝗛𝗔𝗡𝗞 𝗬𝗢𝗨 to a community that continues to show such incredible support for our club and our many service projects throughout the year.

From all of us at the Marlborough Lions, thank you for making our community such a wonderful place to serve!

It’s that time of year again! The Marlborough Lions are collecting 𝗻𝗲𝘄 𝗼𝗿 𝗴𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗹𝘆 𝘂𝘀𝗲𝗱 𝗯𝗹𝗮𝗻𝗸𝗲𝘁𝘀, 𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗳𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗲𝗿𝘀, 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗯𝗲𝗱𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗴 in both Marlborough and Hudson to support our friends at 𝗙𝗿𝗲𝘀𝗵 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗿𝘁 𝗙𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗻𝗸 — helping local families make their houses feel like home.

🦁 𝐖𝐇𝐘 𝐉𝐔𝐒𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐕𝐄 𝐀 𝐌𝐄𝐄𝐓𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐖𝐇𝐄𝐍 𝐘𝐎𝐔 𝐂𝐀𝐍 𝐌𝐀𝐊𝐄 𝐀 𝐃𝐈𝐅𝐅𝐄𝐑𝐄𝐍𝐂𝐄? 🎁❤️

Tonight, the Marlborough Lions Club did what Lions do best: 𝘁𝘂𝗿𝗻 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗿𝗱𝗶𝗻𝗮𝗿𝘆 𝗺𝗲𝗲𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻𝘁𝗼 𝗮𝗻 𝗼𝗽𝗽𝗼𝗿𝘁𝘂𝗻𝗶𝘁𝘆 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗲𝗿𝘃𝗲!

We took care of our regular club business, then rolled up our sleeves for a hands-on service project supporting 𝗦𝘄𝗲𝗮𝘁𝘀 𝗳𝗼𝗿 𝗩𝗲𝘁𝘀! 🇺🇸

Our Lions spent the evening wrapping sweatshirts that will be distributed to veterans throughout New England this Christmas. Each package represents more than a sweatshirt. It’s a little warmth, a little hometown sports pride, and a reminder to a veteran that their service and sacrifice have not been forgotten.

Sweats for Vets is a local nonprofit that collects new sweatshirts featuring Boston sports teams and distributes them to veterans in need. It’s a wonderful example of how a simple idea, combined with caring people and a little teamwork, can make a real difference. ❤️

𝗧𝗵𝗮𝘁’𝘀 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝗽𝗶𝗿𝗶𝘁 𝗼𝗳 𝗯𝗲𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗮 𝗟𝗶𝗼𝗻! 🦁 We’re always looking for opportunities to serve, whether it’s organizing a major community event, helping a neighbor in need, or spending an evening wrapping gifts for those who served our country.

And we’re always looking for more like-minded people who want to give back!

We are excited to host our annual White Cane Day Toll Road on Saturday, October 17, from 9 AM to 2 PM! Drive by and support a cause that impacts lives right here in Marlborough and beyond. 𝙒𝙄𝙉 𝘽𝙄𝙂 𝙒𝙄𝙏𝙃 𝙏𝙃𝙀 𝙋𝘼𝙏𝙍𝙄𝙊𝙏𝙎!

Thanks to a very generous gift, we are able to support 2VDG Steven with this new fundraiser. A raffle for 2 Patriots tickets for their Thursday Night Football matchup against the Minnesota Vikings.

Raffle tickets are being printed this week and can be purchased in person with cash/check or via Venmo or PayPal to the Marlborough Lions. Include your name, phone and email with digital payments.

The Marlborough Lions Club, GFWC Marlborough Junior Woman's Club, and many other volunteer and service clubs (as well as activity clubs) are here waiting to meet you and answer your questions. Come check it out and find a new activity or new way to make a difference in your community.

The Marlborough Lions are all about serving our community, making a difference, and having fun along the way! 🦁❤️ From helping neighbors in need to supporting local projects and causes, there are so many ways to get involved. 𝗨𝗣𝗗𝗔𝗧𝗘: fortunately the damage was not as extensive as it first appeared from the pictures shared with us. Mostly posts pulled out of the ground. Everything has been re-installed and the story Wonder Walk is ready for the community to enjoy. Please go enjoy this nature walk and Randy’s new story. The Marlborough Lions are proud to continue the legacy of service to our community.

I’m honestly at a loss for words today.

I’m frustrated. I’m saddened. And, quite frankly, I’m disappointed that there are people in our community who would find it amusing to destroy something that was created simply to bring a little joy, imagination, and something positive to others.

Before the Marlborough Lions Club even had the opportunity to promote our newest Story Walk, someone decided to rip out, damage, and trash the story panels we had carefully installed along the wooded path around Lake Williams, near the floating dock and boardwalk.

This latest story, 𝙆𝙤𝙛𝙞’𝙨 𝙉𝙚𝙬 𝙑𝙞𝙨𝙞𝙤𝙣, was created by longtime Lion Randy Scott. Its message is deeply rooted in what Lionism is all about — vision, service, inclusion, and helping people see the possibilities that exist when we care about one another.

Volunteers spent time and effort creating something for families, children, and our community to enjoy in one of the beautiful outdoor spaces we are fortunate to have here in Marlborough. We weren’t asking for anything in return. We were simply trying to make a small corner of our community a little better.

And that’s what makes this hurt.

I know, in the grand scheme of things, these are just some story panels. But they represent something bigger. They represent the time, effort, creativity and good intentions of people who are trying to make a difference.

I honestly don’t understand what motivates someone to deliberately damage something that exists for the enjoyment of others.

What I do know is that 𝘄𝗲 𝘄𝗶𝗹𝗹 𝗻𝗼𝘁 𝗹𝗲𝘁 𝗶𝘁 𝗱𝗲𝗳𝗶𝗻𝗲 𝘂𝘀.

The people who volunteer, serve, create, give, build and care will keep doing what we do. Because our community is worth it. Our kids are worth it. And doing good is worth it — even when there are people who choose to tear things down.

I just wish sometimes that everyone could see how much better our world could be if we spent our energy building things up instead of tearing them down.
