Marion Kiwanis

Marion Kiwanis is dedicated to serving the children of our community, region and the world.

The Kiwanis of Marion focus on activities that help children, thereby helping their communities, the nation and the world at large. Every day Kiwanis members help make the world a better place to live through their efforts. In Marion, Kiwanis supports the Kids Day Program, Friends of the Carnegie Library, CASA, the Williamson County Child Advocacy Center, Angel Tree, Area food pantries, the Williamson County Child ID Program, Prenancy Matters, Youth athletic programs, MHS Grad Spree, K-Kids in all of the are elementary schools, MJHS Scholarship and Citizenship Awards, an annual $4000 scholarship to a senior at Marion High School and many other local efforts. Marion Kiwanis is also an active participant in the Illinois-Eastern Iowa Spastic Paralysis Research Project, Kiwanis International's numerous programs and the KI Foundation.

This month, our local Marion Kiwanis Club proudly recognized Betsy Murphy at the Annual District 36 Dinner and meeting for her outstanding dedication and service. Betsy’s commitment to Kiwanis values—especially our shared mission to improve the lives of children—reflects the very spirit of the Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation (KNRF) ’s work. Her leadership strengthens our club, inspires fellow members, and helps ensure that vital research continues to move forward.

The Kiwanis Neuroscience Research Foundation (KNRF) has been a cornerstone of service within the Illinois–Eastern Iowa District, funding groundbreaking research that improves the lives of children and adults living with neurological disorders. The Foundation supports medical investigators whose work addresses conditions such as essential tremor, spastic paralysis, Parkinson’s disease, and other movement disorders.

As we celebrate Betsy’s contributions to our Marion Kiwanis Club, our club members wanted to demonstrate our commitment to building stronger communities, advancing medical research, and offering hope to families across our district and beyond. Individual club members contributed $1000 in Betsy's honor for her gifts shared with all. Congratulations, Betsy! In celebration of her leadership, Betsy also received a proclamation from Mayor Mike Absher, presented by Joni Ross, our Marion Kiwanis club president.

Another extraordinary Kiwanis Pancake Day. We are so grateful to our amazing volunteers; K-Kids, Key Club, National Honor Society, and Marion Kiwanis Club Members. A big thank you to everyone who came to join us for breakfast and support Kiwanis. All of the proceeds from Pancake Day support local children and youth programs.
