HAS Foundation, Inc H.A.S. Foundation, Inc. was established in 2015 to provide need based scholarships to young, local a A little background about where the idea for H.A.S. came from.

Several years ago, I was approached by someone I had met through selling Usborne Books who was looking for some financial help. She was homeschooling her children and in the final stages of an international adoption of 2 special needs children. Her son had been asked to play on a homeschool based travel baseball team but the family could not afford it. I reached out to someone I knew with a passion for youth sports to see if he might be interested in helping. Long story short, the boy was able to play on the team. In the meantime, I've heard stories about several other kids around my little corner of the world with a desire to play team sports, but their parents have been unable to pay the fees associated with just recreational sports programs. My goal is to provide a funding source so those kids who want to play aren’t held back by circumstances beyond their control. In addition, it would allow sports organizations themselves to not dip into their already shallow pockets to allow these athletes to play.

It's National Youth Sports Week! National Youth Sports Week is a national celebration led by the National Council of Youth Sports (NCYS), spotlighting the coaches, volunteers, and organizations who make youth sports possible in communities across the country. Today is National Coaches Day, so it's time for the coach phrase challenge. Every coach has one phrase their athletes can hear in their sleep. I will share one I still hear in the back of my head from the infamous Danny Pralgo with 6-4-3 DP Athletics. "For the rest of your life." While he's teaching baseball, he's teaching life skills. To me this one sentence goes beyond the field and reminds athletes that while the playing days are important, what you do beyond them is the most important. What's your favorite coach quote?!
