As the last of our team travels home from another Momcology Retreat weekend, our hearts are full. 💛

Over the past few days, moms arrived carrying stress, exhaustion, fear, grief, isolation, and the invisible weight that comes with caring for a child with cancer. Together, they found space to breathe. To laugh. To cry. To rest. To feel understood without needing to explain a thing.

This retreat weekend was full of beauty. The beauty of the moms as they were brave, vulnerable and supportive of one another, of the stunning surroundings and breathtaking grounds, of the Redwoods that are so incredibly tall and strong, despite having actually very shallow root systems. A Redwood’s strength comes not from deep individual roots, but from intertwining with one another beneath the surface, creating a connected foundation that allows them to withstand storms, fires and malnourishment, yet continue reaching upward together.

It felt impossible not to see the parallel.

These beautifully brave women arrived feeling alone, trying to hold unimaginable weight by themselves. But this weekend was a reminder that strength is often found in connection. In shared understanding. In community. In knowing there are others standing beside you who truly understand the path you are walking.

There were meaningful conversations, new friendships, moments of reflection, restorative experiences, nourishing meals prepared with love and passion, and many powerful reminders that connection and community matter deeply. For many, this was the first time in a very long time they were able to focus on themselves, even just for a moment.

Retreat weekends are about so much more than a getaway. They are about reducing isolation, creating sustainable and trusted peer support, restoring emotional reserves, and reminding moms that they are worthy of care too.

To the incredible moms who joined us this weekend: thank you for trusting us, for showing up authentically, and for allowing us to be part of your journey. You are extraordinary and it was our privilege to share time and space with you.

It truly takes a team to make these impactful weekends a success and it wouldn’t be possible without every one of the special people who offer their time, energy and talents. Our heartfelt thanks to all of of our volunteers, partners, providers and sponsors. Thank you for helping us create spaces where moms can exhale, connect, heal, and leave feeling a little less alone:

This weekend was our second Momcology Retreat of 2026 in Pescadero, California. Together, we created space for 30 mothers of children with cancer to replace isolation with community.

For many, it was their first weekend away in years. Surrounded by nature and women who truly understand, they found rest, laughter, reflection, education, healing and community.

We are grateful to everyone who makes our retreat program possible including our sponsors, donors, volunteers and the staff who pour their hearts into making these events as meaningful as possible.

Moms Take a Stand is a community of moms who turn their personal connection to childhood cancer into action by hosting lemonade stands and fundraisers with Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation (ALSF) that support lifesaving research. 🎗️

For Allison Lyons, participating has become a meaningful way to create change.

“I was in a virtual Momcology retreat 2 years ago. Of the 11 of us, 3 have lost their children and 4 of us have experienced another relapse. Supporting a foundation that not only feeds back into the Momcology community but also leads in research so other kids don’t go through what ours have gives me an outlet to make me feel like I am doing something and a part of the solution.”

This year, Allison is hosting her 7th stand.

Her story is exactly what Moms Take a Stand is about: channeling lived experience into hope, connection, and progress.

To every mom looking for a way to make an impact, join us for Lemonade Days! 🍋

This Mother’s Day, we honor the extraordinary strength it takes to "mother" through childhood cancer.

The world may never fully understand the weight you carry, but here in this community, you are deeply understood. We know the courage behind the smiles, the exhaustion behind the advocacy, and the deep love behind every decision you make for your child and family.

At Momcology, we believe cancer moms deserve more than recognition for being “strong.” You deserve support, rest, connection, compassion, and a community that continues to show up long after diagnosis, treatment, survivorship, or loss.

Today and every day, we celebrate the incredible mothers in this community; the ones who continue to love endlessly through uncertainty, heartbreak, healing, and hope.

You are not alone.
You never were.

Happy Mother’s Day from all of us at Momcology. 💛

We’re posting tonight because the dedicated mothers “behind the burgundy” at Momcology are taking tomorrow OFF. 💛

With more than 3,500 necklaces already sent and still going, we hope you feel the love poured into every package when you open your box. From our hearts to yours, Happy Mother’s Day to this incredible community! 💛

A Pair of Shoes

I am wearing a pair of shoes.
They are ugly shoes.
Uncomfortable shoes.
I hate my shoes.
Each day I wear them, and each day I wish I had another pair.
Some days my shoes hurt so bad that I do not think I can take another step.

Yet, I continue to wear them.
I get funny looks wearing these shoes.
They are looks of sympathy.
I can tell in others eyes that they are glad they are my shoes and not theirs.
They never talk about my shoes.

To learn how awful my shoes are might make them uncomfortable.
To truly understand these shoes you must walk in them.
But, once you put them on, you can never take them off.
I now realize that I am not the only one who wears these shoes.
There are many pairs in the world.

Some people are like me and ache daily as they try and walk in them.
Some have learned how to walk in them so they don’t hurt quite so bad.
Some have worn the shoes so long that days will go by before they think about how much they hurt.

No one deserves to wear these shoes.
Yet, because of these shoes, I am a stronger person.
These shoes have given me the strength to face anything.
They have made me who I am.
I will forever walk in the shoes of a parent of a child diagnosed with cancer.

It has become an annual tradition for us to share this poem on Mother’s Day weekend. It is one of the reasons why connection among parents of children with cancer is so important.

After a childhood cancer diagnosis, it is not uncommon for an entire family to feel isolated and alone. Over the years, we have witnessed incredible healing through peer support, shared understanding, and community. We are honored that Momcology continues to help create those connections every day through our programs.

This poem is shared in honor of all parents who have experienced this unique kind of pain and somehow found the strength not only to carry on, but to lift up and support others along the way.
