Father's Day Community Voices

Reverend Perry, Pastor at St. Frederick Baptist Church in Marble Falls

"A father is someone who is always there for their children. Whether it's standing on the front line or supporting them from behind the line, we need to be there.

I say 'behind the line' because I don't want to leave out fathers who may be divorced or unable to be there every day but are still doing the fatherly thing by showing up and standing in for their children. The same goes for our adopted children. They're not adopted kids—they are our kids.

A good father stands up for his children and for the children around him. I couldn't even tell you how many kids I have because I embrace every child who comes around me and try to help them as if they were my own.

That's what a father does. We don't pick and choose. We help everyone, especially our own."

This Father's Day, we celebrate fathers who make every child feel seen and valued.

We think happiness as something we have to chase when it’s something we can gently support, & help it grow. 🌱

Father's Day Community Voices

Officer Tomas Ortiz, TDCJ – Halbert Unit, Burnet says, "I didn't really get a chance to learn from my father how to be a good dad, but what he instilled in me is what I hold onto most. He wasn't good with words but his actions were gold.

I work hard to teach my children the value of earning the things they want in life through dedication and perseverance. But my biggest goal as a father is to keep my priorities in order and make sure my children are at the top of that list, right alongside my wife and my Lord and Savior."

This Father's Day, we celebrate fathers who prioritize their children and teach them what truly matters in life.

"Being a good dad was always my goal. I wanted to be a good parent and set a good example for my children. I worked hard at different jobs, but eventually realized God wanted me to work hard at being a good dad. I was happy with that, and it became my purpose.

Being a good dad—providing, counseling, and guiding—is so important. It means more to children than buying them gifts. Be there. Be a good example. Be the best dad you can be so your children have someone to learn from as they grow.

If all you can be in life is a good dad, that's great—be that. There is no higher honor as a man than being a good father."

This Father's Day, we celebrate the men who view fatherhood as one of life's greatest honors.
