After a great summer break, the Maple Grove Lions kicked off the fall season last night at The Lookout. We welcomed some amazing new members to the club and had District Governor Bruce Stachota stop by as our guest speaker—excited to get back to work for our community!

🦁 September is a Month of Awareness

As we head into September, we’re highlighting several important causes connected to Lions Clubs International’s service pillars.

This month, we’re highlighting three important areas:

🎗️ Childhood Cancer Awareness Month — supporting children and families facing childhood cancer.

🥫 Hunger Action Month — helping fight hunger and ensure our neighbors have access to the food they need.

💛 Su***de Prevention & Awareness Month — raising awareness, encouraging conversations, and supporting mental health and well-being.

These issues affect individuals, families, and communities. September is an opportunity to raise awareness, show support, and remind others that these causes matter. 💙

On September 26, 2026, the Maple Grove Lions will be walking together at the NAMIWalks Minnesota at Minnehaha Falls Regional Park—and we’d love to have you join our team! 🦁💚

What is NAMI?
NAMI—the National Alliance on Mental Illness—is the nation’s largest grassroots mental health organization. NAMI provides education, support, advocacy and awareness to help individuals and families affected by mental illness. Their work helps people find resources, feel less alone and, importantly, helps break the stigma surrounding mental health.

Mental health affects individuals, families, workplaces and entire communities. That’s why this cause is important to us. Mental Health & Well-Being is now a Lions International service initiative, giving Lions and Leos opportunities to raise awareness, educate and support their communities, and advocate for positive change.

One of the easiest ways to support the Maple Grove Lions Club is by playing pull tabs at Brick and Bourbon or Sundance Entertainment Center.

The proceeds help us give back to our community through local programs, scholarships, nonprofit partnerships, and service projects.

🌎 World Humanitarian Day | August 19

Tomorrow, we recognize World Humanitarian Day—a day to honor the people who help others during times of crisis and remind us that compassion and service can make a difference.

As Lions, humanitarian service is at the heart of what we do. From helping neighbors in need to supporting disaster relief, hunger initiatives, veterans, people with disabilities, and families facing difficult circumstances, Lions work together to make our communities stronger.

The Maple Grove Lions are proud to put service into action—right here in our community and beyond. 🦁💙

🦁 Recognizing Outstanding Service to Our Community

The Maple Grove Lions were proud to recognize Officer Scott Fillingane for his outstanding service and commitment to our community.

One of the things we value most about serving Maple Grove is that we don’t do it alone. We’re fortunate to have a great relationship with the Maple Grove Police Department, Maple Grove Fire Fighters Association, and other local first responders and public safety partners.

Throughout the year, you’ll find us working side by side at events, fundraisers and community activities—all with the same goal: making Maple Grove an even better place to live, work and call home.

Thank you, Officer Fillingane, for the work you do, the way you serve our community, and for being such a great partner to the Maple Grove Lions.
