Today, we recognize Columbus Day, a day that commemorates the historic voyage of Christopher Columbus in 1492 and the lasting impact of exploration on our nation's history.

As we reflect on our past, we celebrate the spirit of discovery, perseverance, and determination that continues to shape America. These same values are reflected in the dedication and hard work of our building managers, industry professionals, and union workforce who keep our communities strong every day.

🏢 New York Building Managers Association – Monthly Meeting Recap!

Last night the NYBMA held another successful monthly meeting, bringing together members and industry professionals for an evening of education, recognition, and fellowship!

⚡ Educational Seminar – Rains Energy

We kicked off the evening with an informative presentation by Brendan Rains of Rains Energy, who shared valuable insights on energy-efficient building improvements, reducing energy consumption, and utilizing available incentives to help offset the costs of these upgrades.

A sincere thank you to Brendan for sharing his knowledge and expertise with our members. We appreciate the valuable information and the opportunity to learn more about improving building efficiency while managing operating costs!

🎓 Declan Hennessey Scholarship Drawings

We also held drawings for our Declan Hennessey Scholarship Fund! Congratulations to all of our winners! We extend our heartfelt appreciation to all of our generous donors whose contributions help make these scholarships possible.

A special thank you to our Scholarship Chairman, Anton Syku, for his dedication, commitment, and all the hard work he puts into making this initiative a success. Your efforts do not go unnoticed, and our association is grateful for everything you do!

Dear Members and Friends,

It is with great sadness that we share the news of the passing of our Past President, Tom Riordan, who passed away yesterday.

Tom was a valued member of our organization and will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing him. He was also the beloved brother of our Life Member, Barry Riordan.

Funeral arrangements and service details will be shared as soon as they become available.

During this difficult time, we ask that you keep Barry and the entire Riordan family in your thoughts and prayers. May they find comfort and strength in the love and support of family, friends, and our community.

It was a fantastic day filled with great competition, plenty of laughs, camaraderie, and, of course, some “Rootin, Tootin, Shootin!” 💥

After a well-deserved summer break, it was great to come back together with our members, Associate Members, and Friends of the Association for our September meeting. It was even better seeing so many familiar faces and welcoming new ones! 🤝

A very special thank you to Spencer Kraus of Fred Smith Plumbing for an insightful and informative seminar on the new gas regulations and OP-128 forms. Your knowledge and expertise provided our members with valuable information to help us stay informed and prepared. 🔧🔥

🇺🇸 NEVER FORGET — SEPTEMBER 11, 2001 🇺🇸

Today, the New York Building Managers Association joins our city, our nation, and people around the world in solemn remembrance of the lives lost on September 11, 2001.

We remember the nearly 3,000 innocent lives taken that day, including the members of our own New York community who never had the opportunity to return home to their families.

We honor the firefighters, police officers, EMTs, building workers, first responders, military personnel, and countless civilians who displayed extraordinary courage in the face of unimaginable tragedy.

We remember the families who lost loved ones, the survivors who continue to carry the memories, and the heroes who made the ultimate sacrifice trying to save others.

September 11th changed New York forever. But it also showed the world the strength, courage, compassion, and unity of the American people.

We will always remember.
We will always honor.
We will never forget.
