IBEW Local 159

IBEW Local 159 A Labor union representing electricians in South-Central Wisconsin since 1900 Local 159 was chartered in November 1900.

There is little in the way of historical record of these early days. When founded, Local 159 was comprised of linemen and wiremen. Today, Local 159 is an Inside Local with many classifications of electricians; Journeyman Wireman, Residential Wireman, VDV Technicians, Apprentices, Construction Workers and Construction Electricians. Local 159 is dedicated to serving the community. Some of the projec

ts/organizations we support through financial contribution or of our members’ time are: Holiday Fantasy of Lights, Ronald McDonald House, Habitat for Humanity, Operation Fresh Start, WI Veteran Museum Foundation, Special Olympics, WI Labor Historical Society and Vilas Park Zoo Annual Fund Raising programs. If Local 159 is to celebrate its second centennial, it must continue to build on the successes of the four previous generations of 159 members. It must not repeat the mistakes of the past. We must protect our craft and geographic jurisdiction, keep as many contractors organized as possible and organize new ones, we must continue to develop our apprenticeship and training programs and stand for quality work. We must continue to provide opportunities for our members to build solidarity.
