"What if hundreds (thousands?) of members show up at the annual meeting and tell the board, 'Enough is enough'? The GHC annual meeting is Thursday, June 25 at the Alliant Energy Center, 6 p.m. It is time to take back our cooperative."

"I started at St. Mary's 25 years ago as a scared student nurse. This place helped shape me into the nurse I became. For many years it felt like a second family. I've spent my entire nursing career here and I've watched so much change over those years. It's been a long road to get here. There were highs and lows, moments of hope, moments of frustration, and plenty of times when it felt like this day might never come. Today, it did. 89% YES. What moves me most isn't the outcome. It's how we got here. The newer nurses who found their voices and refused to accept that things had to stay the way they were. The experienced nurses who stayed engaged and never completely gave up hope. The hundreds of nurses who decided that our patients, our profession, and each other were worth standing up for. Watching so many nurses step up, support each other, and refuse to back down has been one of the most inspiring things I've ever been a part of. I am incredibly proud of what we accomplished together and hopeful about what comes next. A clear majority of nurses chose to reject the status quo and stand up for something better. That's a big freaking deal. Today we start building the future we voted for."

🎆🎇🎆🎇 Almost 900 St. Mary's nurses now have a strong union voice for their patients and profession! On June 11, they voted by 89% to unite with union nurses at Meriter and UW Health to raise standards for patient care across the region. Next up, nurses look forward to sitting down with SSM Health to negotiate a contract with the staffing, retention and policies they need. Thank you to our elected leaders, community and union members for all your powerful solidarity!
